Anyone who has experienced a cyclone (飓风) will tell you how terrible it can be. Highs winds and lots of rain can destroy a city in less then an hour.

A tropical cyclone (热带气旋) begins when a group of thunderstorms meet over warm, tropical waters. Lots of air and water is sucked into the clouds from the ocean. Because Earth is rotating(旋转), the clouds start to spiral(盘旋上升). That is why the tropical cyclone has a curved(弯曲的) shape when you see it on a map. For this reason, tropical cyclones cannot form near the Equator(赤道) because Earth’s rotation isn’t big enough there. So what’s the difference between a cyclone, a hurricane, and a typhoon? The answer is actually quite simple.
