Wildwood School Library Guide
This will offer you some information about our school library. You can use this guide to help your kids use our library.
| Service hours: 3:00 pm—5:30 pm on school days; 8:30 am—11: 00 am on weekends |
| Borrowing: Each student can borrow one or two books at a time: More books can be borrowed only for class reading activities and school research. |
| Returning: Books borrowed from the library can be kept for 15 school days. The books must be returned before the due date or the kid can not borrow other books. |
| Damaged or Lost Books: When a book is returned in a damaged condition, the kid will have to pay three dollars for the damage. Full price must be paid if a book is lost. We encourage students to carry their library books in plastic bags to protect them from rainy weather. |

Every kid wishes to be an adult. Do you remember playing house as a child—pretending(假装) to be a grown-up like your parents? Did you imagine you were a doctor, a soldier or a teacher? At that time, anything seemed more exciting than being young.
But now as grown-ups, some adults find they cannot leave childhood behind. They become “kidults”. Being a kidult has become a lifestyle choice among young people across Asia. Some kidults collect toys they once played with such as Hello Kitty, Garfield.
Other kidults still enjoy children’s stories and fairy tales. For example, the British publisher(出版商) Bloomsbury even released an edition of the Harry Potter novels with an adult cover. That way, no one else on the subway will know that an adult is actually reading a children’s book.
“Kidults can be like vitamins to society. Child-like emotions(情感) maybe needed in such a hard society,” said Lee So-jung, a professor at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. He added that kidult culture may fill the generation gap(代沟) between adults and kids. It could give children and their parents books, cartoon shows and movies to enjoy together.
Tim Greenhalgh, an adviser to London explained that some kidults just refuse to grow up. They stick to childhood because working life in a busy and stressful city make them scared. Kidults would like to forget their age and openly show their fear of society and adulthood. “So, they can keep away from busy and stressful lives that are hard to deal with,” Greenhalgh said.

When you are away from home, eating is more than just a way to keep your stomach full. Sharing a meal with others is a kind of communication.
When you are in a foreign country, saying yes to the food on your plate is important. It means that you accept the host and the country. That's why most experienced travelers try to eat everything everywhere, even though the dish looks strange.

At my primary school, I was one of the smartest kids there. I never studied, but always got perfect scores. I thought I was born clever. At least I believed so. I was also a prodigy in music according to myself I could sing better than almost everyone else in my school. I was pretty sure that once I got to seventh grade, everyone would be surprised by me.
But actually they weren't.
When I arrived at my new class, I couldn't wait to show everyone what I could do. However, there was always someone else who could do better than me. My grades began to get worse I needed to actually study for my tests. I believed I wasn't smart. I believed I wasn't talented. I believed I was a failure.
Over the next two years. I had to work very hard. Every prize for the singing competition was given to me for hard work and effort. Grades was still very low but improving little by little. I worked really hard. However, I was never the best at everything.
I haven't realized until recently that I really don't have to be the best at everything. I was too hard on myself. In fact, when I did badly in a test, my classmates never laughed at me.
No one is perfect. There will probably always be someone better than me at something. Anyway, there are about seven billion people in this world. I will never be the number one at everything, and that's really okay.
