Jolin Tsai, a famous singer, has become an English teacher! But she is not staying in a classroom to give you talks in English. Instead, she has published a new book, “Jolin’s English Diary Book”. It came out in Taiwan in March. Jolin is helping you learn English in a light-hearted way and giving you useful words for life outside your textbooks.
“I hope it’s a happy English book,” she said. “When you learn English in a fun way, you will keep on doing it. This certainly doesn't mean just reciting words”. Jolin has a lot of clever ways of learning. She likes to listen to English songs or find friends to talk to in English. She has been good at English since Grade 3 in primary school. Because of this, she hosted news programme on the radio herself.
Jolin knows it’s important to put English to good use. So, in her English diaries, she wrote something about her everyday life, like study, fashion, travel and family. After each diary, she gives you lots of notes. You can use them often, too! Jolin also asks you to keep diaries like hers.

What will restaurants look like in the future？What would your dinner taste like if a robot cooked it？A robot restaurant in Tianjin may give you the answers.
Covering an area of over 400 square meters with a total of 112 seats，the X Future Restaurant is a robot restaurant opened in November 2018. The restaurant has amazed customers with its fully-automated（全自动的）technology，which covers every step of the dining experience，from ordering to cooking to serving the dishes and even taking payment.
Entering the restaurant，one can order dishes by simply scanning（扫描）the QR codes on the table. There are over 40 choices of dishes. After taking the order，“robot cooks”prepare dishes using fixed time，temperature and ingredients designed by famous Chinese cooks.
“As the cooking is controlled by a computer system，the taste and quality of dishes can be good，”said Li Xiaokui，manager of the X Future Restaurant.
Robots also complete the delivery of dishes. Without following any designed route，the robot waiters serve meals thanks to automated driving technology，which helps each robot timely change its route when something is in the way.
These eye-catching technologies have received wide praise from customers. "The dishes taste surprisingly good. I couldn't believe that they were made by robots，especially dishes that were difficult to cook” one customer said. "The application of robots has increased our efficiency（效率）and cut down our costs，"Li said，"I think robot restaurants will develop fast and have a bright future. ”

Do you know why people yawn (打哈欠)? The most obvious answer is that we yawn because we are tired. But why does being tired make us yawn? How does yawning help us? The truth is that we don’t know the answers to these questions. Scientists have different theories about why we yawn, but nobody has been able to prove them.
The first one is the “oxygen theory”. In the past, one of the more popular theories was that we yawn in order to take more oxygen. When we yawn we breathe more deeply. According to this theory, our brains make us yawn because we need more oxygen. However, these days more and more scientists are against the oxygen theory.
The second one is the “brain cooling” theory. According to this theory, we yawn when our brains get too warm. Yawning makes our brains cooler again. When our brains are cooler, we can think more clearly. Yawning can help keep us alert (警觉). This theory hasn’t been proven yet, but many scientists think that it will be in the future.
Here are a few other interesting facts about yawning. First, yawning is contagious (可传染的). If you see another person yawn, then you will be more likely to yawn, too. Second, we yawn even before we are born. Studies have shown that babies yawn while they’re still in their mother’s stomach. They start to yawn after 24 weeks. Finally, we are more likely to yawn when we’re bored. Why is yawning contagious? Why do we yawn when we’re bored or tired? The truth is that we don’t have any answers to these questions, either.
