  1. Maybe you are an ordinary student.1. This is not necessarily so.Anyone can become a better student if he or she wants to.Here’s how:

Plan your time carefully. When planning your work, you should make a list of things that you have to do.After making this list, you should make a schedule of your time.First arrange your time for eating, sleeping, dressing, etc, then decide a good, regular time for studying.2. A weekly schedule may not solve all your problems, but it will force you realize what is happening to your time.

Make good use of your time in class.3. Listening carefully in class means less work later.Taking notes will help you remember what the teacher says.

Study regularly. When you get home from school,go over your notes, review the important points that your teacher is going to discuss the next day, read that material.4. If you do these things regularly, the material will become more meaningful, and you will remember it longer.

Develop a good attitude towards tests. The purpose of a test is to show what you have learned about a subject. The world won’t end if you don’t pass a test,so don’t be over-worried

.5. You will probably discover many others after you have tried these.

A.This will help you understand the next class.

B.You probably think you will never be a top student.

  1. I took the bus to work for many years. No one knew each other; the passengers all sat there sleepily in the morning. The bus was cheerless and silent.

One of the passengers was a small gray-haired man who took the bus to the center for senior citizens every morning. No one ever paid very much attention to him.

One July morning he said good morning to the driver and smiled. The driver nodded guardedly(戒备地). The rest of us were silent.

The next day, the old man boarded with a big smile and said in a loud voice: “A very good morning to you all!” Some of us looked up, amazed, and murmured “Good Morning” in reply.

The following weeks, our friend was dressed in a nice old suit and tie. His thin hair had been carefully combed. He said good morning to us every day and we gradually began to nod and talk to each other.

One morning he even had a bunch of wild flowers in his hand. The driver turned around smiling and asked: “Have you got yourself a girlfriend, Charlie?” We never got to know if his name really was “Charlie”, but he nodded shyly and said yes. The other passengers whistled and clapped at him. Charlie waved the flowers before he sat down on his seat.

Every morning after that Charlie always brought flowers. Some passengers also brought flowers for him. The bus became a happy place.

Then, one morning, as autumn was closing in, Charlie wasn’t waiting at his usual stop. When he wasn’t there the next day and the day after that, we started wondering if he was sick or—hopefully – on holiday somewhere.

When we came nearer to the center for senior citizens, one of the passengers asked the driver to wait. We all held our breaths when he went to the door.

The old gentle man was fine, but one of his close friends had died over the weekend. How silent we were the rest of the way to work.

The next Monday Charlie was waiting at the stop, stooping (弯腰) a bit more, a little bit more gray, and without a tie. Inside the bus was silent. Even though no one had talked about it, all of us sat there silently, our eyes filled with tears and a bunch of wild flowers in our hands.

    1. From the passage, we can infer that .

3.Which of the following is not true?

    B. People were surprised at the old man’s first greeting.

    C. People were worried about the old man’s absence.

  2. Like human beings, dogs may catch cold because of cold weather, wet conditions or can also get it from other sick dogs. If a dog has a running nose and watery eyes, coughs or sneezes(打喷嚏), then it is quite probable that the dog has caught cold.

A dog's cold can get over after a few days without treatment but it totally depends upon the owner to treat it with medications or improve its immune power(免疫力)to get rid of the cold naturally. Following are some of the things you can do if your dog gets a cold.

You can improve its immune power by giving it proper nutrient diet. Healthy food can really do wonders. Try to give it food which is either suggested by the vet(兽医)or is healthy for your pet. Increase the intake of food which is rich in vitamins A, C and E.

Keep your dog warm. The best place for your dog in winter is inside your house. Do not keep your dog outside when it is cold and wet. At home you can also keep the dog warm with the help of carpets. This will make him comfortable and help him to recover fast.

Increase the fluid(流质)intake as it helps a lot. Water can be the best choice but you can also add broth(肉汤)in water which will give your dog strength. Warm water will make your dog more comfortable and will also keep the dog away from the respiratory infections(呼吸道感染).

Steam treatment is considered to be effective in getting rid of cold. It makes the nasal(鼻的)passage wet, which helps proper breathing. Just fill your bathroom with steam and leave your dog inside the bathroom for 15 minutes. Do it nearly 2 to 3 times a day and you will see your dog recovering.

These are some of the things you can do to help your dog recover from cold. However, if you are not able to find any improvement in its health, then turn to the vet for help immediately. Take your dog for regular checkups so as to avoid complications(并发症).

1.From the first paragraph we know about __________.

  3. It’s school time again! You’re probably feeling excited and maybe a little sad that summer is over. Some kids feel nervous or a little scared on the first day of school because of all the new things: new teachers, new friends, and even a new school. Luckily, these “new” worries only stick around for a little while. Let’s find out more about going to a new school.

Most teachers kick off the new school year by introducing themselves and talking about all the stuff you'll be doing that year. Some teachers give students a chance to tell something about themselves to the rest of the class, too. When teachers do the talking on the first day, they often go over classroom rules and school rules so you’ll know what’s allowed and what’s not. Please pay close attention.

You might already know a lot of people in your classes on the first day, but it’s a great day to make a new friend, so try to say hello to kids you know and new ones that you don’t. Make the first move and you’ll be glad you did, and so will your new friend!

Seeing friends you haven't seen in a while can make the first day a good one. You can make the day feel special by wearing clothes that you really like. Maybe you got a great T-shirt on one of your vacations, or a pair of sneakers (运动鞋).It also can make you feel good to be prepared and have all the things you need, such as pencils, folders, and whatever else you’ll be needing. But make sure that you pack them the night before in case you don't have time in the morning.

    A. start B. study

    C. find D. teach
