  2. It was a Monday morning and, as always Katrina and her mom got in the car at 6:35 to drive to the ferry(渡船) at Lyness. When they got there half an hour later, the ferry was just arriving.

“Dad's coming to get you on Friday, Katrina,” her mother said, “have a good week.”

At a quarter to eight the ferry arrived in Houton on Mainland. Katrina waited there with the other kids for the school bus which took them to Kirkwall Grandma School. The same as every Monday morning.

But this Monday was different. A researcher was coming to interview some students for a TV documentary about the school. So at 10 o'clock Katrina was waiting outside the researcher's room for her interview.

The door opened and Fiona came out. Fiona was one of the “Beauties”, the name for a group of trendy girls in her class. Katrina went in and closed the door.

“Hello,” said the woman at the desk. She smiled and pointed to an empty chair. The film researcher's last name was Jane and she already knew who Katrina was and where she lived.

“I see you're from Hoy, Katrina.”

    “Aye, that's right,” Katrina answered.

“Why don't you go to school on Hoy?”

“Och, the school on Hoy only goes to Secondary 2,” Katrina explained. “So I've been coming here to Kirkwall since last year.”

  3. Antarctica is the coldest, windiest and emptiest place on Earth. It is home to penguins and different sea life. The cold weather over millions of years has created a huge layer(层) of ice that covers Antarctica. In some places, the ice is about 20 meters thick. Yet the continent(大陆) is one of the driest deserts on Earth.

Humans have explored the area for years. The first human to set foot on land in Antarctica is said to be John Davis, a US seal(海豹) hunter, in 1821. Tourists visit the coast of Antarctica in summer, which is from November to February in the southern part of Earth. They get to see penguins, seals, whales and a beautiful icy view.

But who lives and works in Antarctica? They are mostly scientists and those who help them carry out their research.

The National Science Foundation(NSF) is a US organization. Polar Programs, part of the NSF, supports scientists in both the Arctic and the Antarctic.

“Each year, we send more than 100 teams of scientists to our three research stations in Antarctica,” Polar Programs' spokesman Peter West said.

Some scientists study the movement of glaciers(冰川) or the activity of volcanoes(火山). Others study animals such as whales, seals, birds and fish. There are even scientists looking for dinosaur bones(骨头)!

  4. Many restaurants have “take out” service. But this restaurant in Helsinki, Finland, has become famous for its special “take in” service. Actually the name of the restaurant is “Take In” too.

Take In doesn't even have a kitchen, which means it doesn't cook meals, either. Instead, it allows customers to order different dishes from 20 other restaurants in the city.

The idea behind it is simple. Sometimes you go out with a group of friends and you can't decide where to go for dinner, because everyone wants to order something different. Take In is the perfect solution.

“We want to be a ______ in the city,” said a spokesperson of the restaurant. You can order a pizza, while your friends may choose Japanese food, Chinese food or a hamburger. But all of you can enjoy your meals and time together at Take In.

If you want to try the “take in” service, all you have to do is to use the Wolt app, just as you would from the comfort of your own homes. Once you order and pay for your meals, all you have to do is waiting for someone to deliver it to the restaurant.

1.How special is the restaurant “Take In”?

    A. You can order different kinds of food from it.

    B. You can cook food in the kitchen all by yourself.

    C. You can eat food ordered from other restaurants there.

    D. You can have a big dinner for free with your friends.

2.Which is the best expression for the blank in the fourth paragraph?

    A. playground B. kitchen C. restroom D. living room

3.The author wrote this article to ________.

    A. teach us how to use the app Wolt

    B. introduce the “Take In” restaurant

    C. show us the way to order “takeout”

    D. help us to choose restaurants
