Home Alone is a very funny 1990 American film. It tells a story about a boy who is accidentally left alone at home.
One night before Christmas, the McAlister family meet at their home. They're planning to fly to Paris for the coming holiday and are busy getting ready. 8-year-old Kevin is the youngest child .He's very naughty and is always in trouble. He is fighting with his brothers, sisters and his cousins. His Mum gets angry and punishes him. He is sad. When he goes to bed, he is so mad that he wishes all his family would go away. In the morning, everyone wakes up very late. They are all in a hurry to get to the airport, so they forget Kevin and he is left alone at home by accident. When they have left, the family realize that they have made a big mistake. They have left Kevin at home alone, they are very worried. But it is too late. Now they are out of town and have no choice.
It's Kevin who is so happy that he seldom stays at home alone. His terrible family has gone—his wish has come true. He watches TV, eats lots of fast food and plays games. He has a good time. But later on, he goes out and hears two bad men called Harry and Marv planning to steal his house. The two thieves (贼) who just got out of jail looked at Kevin's house. Kevin goes home and has arranged his home as an "amusement park", planning some very funny ways to kill them. When they sneak (偷偷溜进) into Kevin's house, Kevin plays "game" with two stupid thieves with his "Amusement park mechanism"(游乐场机关) at home. Many things in the house get broken as Kevin tries to stop them. Finally, the police come and the men are taken away.
The house is now in a mess, now Kevin tidies it up and waits for his parents. They get back from Paris and they are happy to find Kevin is safe.

Once a businessman was deep in debt (债务). He was not able to get out of debt. So one day, he sat down in the park to think about how he could save his company from bankruptcy (破产). While he was sitting there, an old man appeared, sat down next to him and said, "I can see that something is troubling you..."

From then on, he started working really hard with full enthusiasm (热情). And, after only a few months, the businessman got out of debt and started making profit again.
One year passed since the day the businessman met the old man, and as promised he returned to the park with the same cheque the old man gave him. As agreed, the old man also appeared. The businessman was very happy to see the old man and told him his success story.
When the businessman was about to return the cheque to the old man. however, A nurse ran over to them and caught the old man by the hand, while saying to the businessman, "I am so glad I caught him... There are some very good inventions which, for one reason or another, don't become popular. These inventions should be better known, even though I think that some of them are crazy. Let's have a look at some of these inventions and see if you agree that they should be more successful.
The Australians had a great idea to stop people from drinking and driving. The idea was that if a driver wanted to start the car, she or he would have to blow into a bag first. If there was too much alcohol (酒精) in their breath. The car wouldn't start. It sounds like a great idea to me, but people said that they might need to drive the car in an emergency (紧急情况) even if they had drunk too much alcohol. Another idea I liked was an invention by a scientist who thought his children watched too much TV. He connected the TV to an exercise bike so that the electricity to power the TV was produced by the bike. If the children wanted to watch a lot of TV, they had to pedal (踩踏) very hard.
One of the strangest inventions I have come across is a bicycle which can cross rivers! The idea was that when you came to a river, you could inflate (充气) a huge plastic ball all around the bike. You would then get into the ball which would float on the river while you pedaled the bike inside the ball! Why not use a bridge instead?
One thing I would like is a baseball cap with a built-in radio, so you can listen to sport all day with your hands free. The Americans invented a kind of robot for sports fans. If you were watching your team on TV on your own, you could press a button (按钮) and the robot would do 'high-fives' with you! That's fantastic!
