  1. Ways to have a happy school life

Your school days should be some of the best and happiest days of your life. How can you gain the most from them, and make sure that you do not waste this wonderful chance to learn?

Be positive about school! Don’t say things which are difficult or boring. 1. Join in lots of activities. Be quick to put your hand up. Go round the school with a big smile.

    2. School is not a holiday camp. If you are not working, you are not learning, you are wasting your time at school. Teachers cannot make everything enjoyable.

Keep fit. If you do not eat a good breakfast, you will be thinking about food in class.3. Play some sports to keep your body strong.

Do today’s work today.4. Do not say you will do things tomorrow. If you get behind the class, it is very difficult to get back in front. You cannot finish a race if you rest all the time.

Don’t be too disappointed if things sometimes go bad. Everyone fails some tests, loses some matches and has bad days. Friends are not always perfect, and they sometimes say and do unpleasant things.5.

Follow my advice, and have a happy school life!

    A. Expect to work.

    B. Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today.

    C. Don’t let small problems seem very big and important.

    D. Be interested in school life and your school subjects.

    E. Don’t waste life lying in bed on Saturday morning.

    F. You are making your time of little use unless you are learning hard.

    G. If you go to bed late and do not have enough sleep, you will be sleepy in class.

Research by scientists in Greece shows that living in the mountains is good for the heart and longevity (长寿). People living at higher altitude have lower possibility of dying from heart disease than those closer to sea level, even if they have factors (因素) that could increase their risk. “Residence (居住) in mountainous areas seems to have a ‘protective effect’ from heart disease,” said Dr Nikos Baibas of the University of Athens. He and his colleagues guess that the increased exercise from walking up mountainous area gives the heart a good workout and enables it to deal with lower levels of oxygen.

Researchers studied the health records and death rates of 1,150 Greeks who lived in three villages near Athens over 15 years. One village was 1,000 meters above sea level and the other two were in low-lying areas. Although men and women living in the mountainous village had higher blood pressure rates and other risk factors than people in the other villages, they had a lower rate of death from heart disease and other causes after a fifteen year follow-up. “The contrast was more evident among men than among women,” Baibas added in a report in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health. Smoking, high blood pressure, raised cholesterol (胆固醇) levels, being overweight and a family history of the illness increase the possibility of developing the disease.
