Ai-Petri Bridges, Crimea
The views of the Crimean coast from the top of 1,234-metre high Ai-Petri Mount are amazing. The hanging bridges built in recent years can reach the top of the mount. If just walking across the bridges is not dangerous enough, it also happens to be one of the windiest places in the world. It is said that the bridges blow from side to side as wind speeds reach 170 kilometres per hour for 125 days of the year. It’s also very foggy, so you may not be able to see clearly!
U Bein Bridge, Myanmar
This five-metre-high, 1.2-kilometre wooden footbridge does not look as dangerous as the others, but do not be fooled. It was built in the 1850s and it’s certainly feeling its age! Some of the old wood is not as strong as it used to be. It is easy to lose your footing. Although there is no handrail (栏杆), large numbers of tourists cross it every day. When the tourists arrive in the evening to watch the beautiful sunset, this bridge could become the most dangerous of them all!
The Trift Bridge, Switzerland
At 100 metres high and 170 metres long, this is one of the highest bridges in the world. Built in 2004, the bridge is hidden among the high Swiss Alps. You wouldn’t have wanted to walk across the bridge before its repair in 2009. But if you have the courage to cross this bridge, you’d better do it quickly!
The Hussaini Hanging Bridge, Pakistan
In the mountainous area of Northern Pakistan, the Hussaini Hanging Bridge helps travelers cross the Borit Lake. However, you will not feel too confident when you get close to this bridge. It’s one of the oldest bridges in Pakistan and many locals use it every day to travel to work and school — imagine losing your homework over the side of this bridge! It’s made from rope, with a few pieces of wood that have large gaps (空隙) between them. Step carefully!

The Greatest Olympic Stadiums of All Time
The following are some buildings that have stood the test of time and continue to be as amazing and groundbreaking as the games themselves.
Montreal Olympic Stadium, Montreal, Canada
The 1976 Summer Games were a perfect excuse for then-mayor Jean Drapeau to green light a stadium that could be used for the city’s Major League Baseball team. The building is an extraordinary achievement of engineering and its 45-degree angled tower is the world’s tallest inclined (倾斜的) tower.
Aquatics Centre, London, the United Kingdom
This roof that bends both inside and outside is one of the most recognizable structures by the famous architect Zaha Hadid. Built for the 2012 Summer Olympics, this building is meant to copy the movement of not only the water inside the structure, but also of the neighboring Waterworks River.
Spyros Louis Olympic Stadium, Athens, Greece
The two bent poles running over the open roof of this stadium from the 2004 Summer Olympics look more like a bridge than a stadium. The stadium itself was built in 1982, but its most recognizable aspects were added during the 2004 refurbishment (翻新).
Beijing National Stadium, Beijing, China
Built for the 2008 Summer Games, the Beijing National Stadium stands apart for its unique appearance like a bird’s nest and the plans for it to be reused at the 2022 Winter Games. This activity will melt away the pounds, build your body and leave you on an emotional high. Yet the form of exercise, the fitness trend of the year, does not require gym membership or a personal trainer. All you need to do is walk.
"Walking is a refreshing alternative to complicated aerobic (氧)routines and overpriced gym membership," says personal trainer Lucy Knight, author of a new book on the exercise. “It is free, enjoyable and already a part of everyday life. All you need to do is correct your technique, walk faster and for longer and you will lose weight?"
There is much evidence of the benefits of walking. Scientists at the University of Pittsburgh recently discovered that overweight people who walked briskly (快)for 30 to 60 minutes a day lost weight even if they didn't change any other lifestyle habits. Another American study found that people who walked for at least four hours a week gained less weight than couch potatoes as they got older. Researchers at the University of Massachusetts medical school found that people who walked every day had 25 percent fewer colds than those who sat a lot. Best of all, walking makes you feel good about yourself "For people suffering from depression, walking three to four times a week for 30 minutes has been shown to lift their mood,” says Knight.
But how to walk your way to weight loss and wellness? Health experts recommend that we should walk 10,000 steps a day to stay healthy. Actually, you would probably need to walk at least 16,000 steps a day to lose weight. "Your workout plans depend on your level of fitness. You should aim to progress by increasing your walking time by five minutes every two weeks, and walk a bit faster. In just three months, the results should speak for themselves," says Knight.

I am a strong believer that if a child is raised with approval, he will learn to love himself and will be successful in his own way.
Several weeks ago, I was doing homework with my son in the third grade and he kept standing up from his chair to go over the math lines. I kept asking him to sit down, telling him that he would concentrate better. He sat but seconds later, as if he didn't even notice he was doing it, he got up again. I was getting frustrated, but then it hit me. I started noticing his answers were much quicker and accurate when he stood up. Could he be more intent while standing up?
This made me start questioning myself and what I had been raised to believe・ I was raised to believe that a quiet, calm child was a sure way to success・ This child would have the discipline to study hard, get good grades and become someone important in life.
Now those same people perhaps come to realize that their kids are born with their own sets of DNA and personality traits, and all you can do is loving and accepting them. As parents, throughout their growing years and beyond that, we need to be our kids' best cheerleaders; guiding them and helping them find their way.
I have stopped asking my son to sit down and concentrate. Obviously, he is concentrating just in his own way and not mine. We need to learn to accept our kids' ways of doing things. Some way may have worked for me but doesn't mean we need to carry it through generations. There is nothing sweeter than being individual and unique. It makes us free and happy and that's just the way I want my kids to live their own life.
1.At the beginning, the author tried to keep his son seated in order to make him .
A.pay more attention to his study B.keep silent in the room
C.finish his homework on time D.get right answers
2.Inspired by the case of his son, the author began to doubt .
A.the importance of parents B.the old form of education
C.the relationship between kids and their parents D.the good grades of some kids
3.According to the passage, which of the following statements is right?
A.We should help kids correct their wrong ways. B.Parents, should study their kids* DNA.
C.Kids should be taught to behave themselves. D.Parents should love and accept their kids.
4.Which of the following would be the best title of the passage?
A.Study hard and you'll be successful B.Be friendly to your children
C.Children's success in their own style D.Parents' help with their children's study
