Have you ever heard the term "body image"? It refers to the way we see our own bodies and how we feel about them. Some people have a good body image—they know that while their bodies might not be pecfect, they are still healthy and happy.
But many others—especially women—have a "broken" view of their bodies. They feel like they can never be skinny enough.
I have seen this among my own female(女性的) friends. I often see them complain about their weight on my Wechat moments(微信朋友圈), even though they are already in good shape. I want to tell them to stop worrying and complaining, but it's not really my place to do that.
This phenomenon(现象)has been a problem in the US and other countries for many years. But it seems to me that Chinese society places extra pressure on women to look perfect.
Some of you may remember the"A4 challenge" of 2016. Women posted pictures of themselves online, comparing their waist( 腰部) to the width of a sheet of A4 printing paper. A4 sheets are only about 20 cm wide. For most people, that would mean that they are at an unhealthy weight.
Unluckily, society and the media(媒体) will probably always promote(提倡) these kinds of strict beauty ideals. But the thing to remember is that as long as you are not extremely overweight or extremely skinny, you're probably in good health and are fine just the way you are.
1.What does “ having a good body image” mean?
A.You are satisfied with how you look.
B.You are already in perfect shape.

A.“women are always in good shape”
B.“women enjoy losing weight”
C.“women always complain about their weight”
D.“women love to post pictures on their Wechat moments”
3.What does the author(作者)think of the “A4 challenge”?
A.He thought it was fun. B.He disagreed with it.

4.What can we infer(推断) from the story?

Have you ever heard someone use the phrase” once in a blue moon” People use this expression to describe something that they do not do very often. For example, someone might say that he tries to avoid eating sweets because they are unhealthy, but will eat chocolate” once in a blue moon”. Or someone who does not usually like to go to the beach might say “I visit the shore once in a blue moon.”While many people use this phrase, not everyone knows the meaning behind it.
The first thing to know is that the moon itself is never really blue. This is just an expression. In fact, the phrase” blue moon” has to do with the shape of the moon, not the color.
As the moon travels around the earth, it appears to change shape. We associate certain names with certain shapes of the moon. For example, when we can see a small part of the moon it is called a crescent moon. A crescent is a shape that looks like the tip of a fingernail when we cannot see the moon at all; it is called a new moon.
When we can see the whole moon is called a full moon. Usually, there is only one full moon every month. Sometimes, however there will be two full moons in one month. When this happens, the second full moon is called a blue moon”.
Over the next 20 years, there will only be 15 blue moons. As you can see, a blue moon is a very rare event. This fact has led people to use the expression” once in a blue moon” to describe other very rare events in their lives.
1.Which of the following would be a good example of using the phrase” once in a blue moon”.
A. Simon often tells jokes. Simon tells jokes once in a blue moon.
B. Tom rarely remembers to do exercise. Tom does exercise once in a blue moon.
C. Mary likes to go shopping every weekend. Mary goes shopping once in a blue moon.
D. Cindy hates to stay up, but she stays up every day. Cindy stays up once in a blue moon.
2.When does a blue moon happen in nature
A. When the moon has a blue moon. B. When we cannot see the moon at all.
C. When there are two full moons in one month. D. When we can only see a small part of the color.
3.Which of the following is another example of something that has a crescent shape
A. The letter “O” B. The letter “M”
C. The letter “H” D. The letter “C”

Read the passage and choose the best answer.
Have you ever heard the sound of a hummingbird? They make a buzzing noise when they fly. They make this noise because they beat their wings so fast. They beat their wings up to 80 times a second. All that flapping makes a lot of noise. That’s why we call them hummingbirds.
Hummingbirds fly in a unique way. They move their wings so fast that they can hover. This means that they can stay in one spot in the middle of the air, like a helicopter. Sometimes they fly or hover upside down. They are the only bird that flies backward.
Hummingbirds are small. One type called the bee hummingbird is the smallest bird in the world. Bee hummingbirds weigh less than a penny. They are just a little bit bigger than bees. I guess that’s where they get their name.
Hummingbirds move fast. It takes lots of energy to move as fast as they do. This means that they need to eat a lot of food. Their favorite food is nectar, a sweet liquid inside of some flowers. They drink more than their own weight in nectar daily. They have to visit hundreds of flowers to get enough nectar to live. They can only store(存储) enough energy to survive through the night. They live on the edge. Hummingbirds don’t use their long beaks like straws(吸管). They have a tongue just like you. They use their tongues for eating. They flick their tongues in and out of their mouths while inside of lowers. They lap up nectar. Flowers give them the energy that they need.
Hummingbirds help flowers too. They get pollen(花粉) on their heads and bills when they feed. Flowers use pollen to make seeds. Hummingbirds help pollen get from one flower to the next. This helps flowers make more seeds. More seeds means more flowers. More flowers means more food for hummingbirds. Isn’t it nice how that works out?

Have you ever turned off your alarm clock on the weekend to hope that it would pay off your weekly sleep debt (债 )? A study in Current Biology may crush those hopes, which means the catch-up sleep weekend is not helpful. The bad health effects of sleep deprivation ( 缺乏 ) on weekdays cannot be repaid by long weekend sleep.
According to a study by the University of Colorado, participants who took part in the study only slept for five hours on weekdays while sleeping as much as they wanted during a weekend. To our surprise, they got nearly three pounds over two weeks and experienced metabolic disruption (代谢混乱) that would make them become ill easily.
“If there are benefits of catch-up sleep, they’re gone when you go back to your routine. It’s very short-lived,” said Kenneth Wright, director of the sleep laboratory. “These health effects are long-term. It’s kind of like smoking once was—people would smoke and wouldn’t see an immediate effect on their health, but people will say now that smoking is not a healthy lifestyle choice.”
Kenneth Wright said that the study suggests sleep should come first, especially for the people spending a lot of time in watching television or on smart phones. “Even when people don’t have a choice about losing sleep because of child-care responsibilities or job schedules, they should think about sleep in the same way they think about a healthy diet or exercise.”
Michael Grandner, the sleep program director at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, said,“Imagine a person who ate nothing but cheeseburgers and French fries, Monday through Friday, but only had vegetables on weekends and tried to call that a healthy diet. That is just what people are doing when they sleep less on weekdays with the idea that they can make up for it on the weekend,” he argued.
Some other researchers found an interesting difference between men and women, in which women got less recovery sleep on the weekend, and they also were able to control their eating behavior better than men on weekends.
1.The word “crush” in Paragraph 1 probably means ________.
A.build B.break C.show D.take
2.Which of the following is TRUE according to Kenneth Wright?
A.People who sleep less would become fatter.
B.The catch-up sleep is helpful over the long term.
C.Sleep is as important as a healthy diet and exercise.
D.People who keep to their routines would be healthy.
3.What is the main purpose of this passage?
A.To give us some advice on weekday sleep.
B.To encourage us to sleep more on weekends.
C.To share researchers’ unhappy experiences of sleep.
D.To introduce some researches on weekend catch-up sleep.

Have you ever wondered why it seems that some people can have enough time to do everything they want, but others can’t? Is it that the first type of people has less to do? No, it’s much more possible that they are practicing good time management skills.
Time management is hard to practice well. But once done, you will manage time much better. With minor tweaks and little efforts, you can do all you need to do in an effective(有效率的) way.
The key to good time management is to understand the difference between the urgent and the important. “Urgent” tasks need your immediate(立即的) attention, but whether you give that immediate attention may or may not matter(要紧). “Important” tasks matter, because not doing them may have serious or even bad results.
For example, answering the phone is urgent. If you don’t do it, you may miss something important. However, it may be a stranger who just wants to sell you a phone you don’t need at all. That’s not important.
Going to the dentist is important. If you don’t, you may get gum disease. But it’s not urgent. If you leave it too long, however, it may become urgent, because you may get a toothache.
Helping to pick up your brother or sister from school is both urgent and important. If you are not there at the right time, they will keep waiting and worry too much. Seeing Wechat moments(朋友圈) is neither urgent nor important. So why do you put it first?
Knowing the difference between the urgent and the important is the key to managing time well. Try to put your tasks into their right groups. Remember that your health is important. You should pay enough attention to your health even though there are many urgent things to do.
Although it’s not easy to group your tasks properly, try to be a good time manager so that you can have time to spend with the people you love and on the activities you like. The better you manage your time, the more successful you can be.
1.The underlined words “minor tweaks” in Paragraph 2 probably mean “______”.
