In many countries of the world, children are happiest on Christmas Day. It is the birthday of Jesus Christ. On Tuesday Jack and his family have a lot of things to do, because it is the day before Christmas. But Jack gets up late in the morning. As he doesn’t see his mother anywhere, he goes to his father and asks him, “Where is mother?” he replies, “She goes to town to buy some food for tomorrow.” Then Jack begins to read an interesting book. Here is one of the stories which are written in it.

One Christmas Eve, a man named Martin Luther is walking through a forest. The snow covers the trees and looks very lovely. The stars up in the sky look like lights on the branches (树枝) of the trees. When he arrives at his house, he tries to tell his family how beautiful the forest trees were, but he can not find the right words. So he cuts down a little tree and brings it into the room. He puts candles on its branches and lights them. Jack thinks the story is wonderful.

In the evening, all the members gather together in the living room. A Christmas tree is there. As soon as they put the presents under the tree, he lights the candles on it. They are shining like real stars.
