Maybe it's because my mother is really old, her actions have become less blunt, and her body is not as tough as before. There has always been such a gap between my mother and me, and it has pulled me away from my mother far!
Every day my mother would wake me up, cook for me, and then lie on the windowsill and watch me go to school. I rarely communicate with my mother because she is very irritable and always loses her temper for no reason.
One day, I went home late for fun. My mother was very angry and she raised her hand and slapped me. I shouted hysterically: "Why do you hit me, I am not wrong, you are a bad mother! "My mother froze. She wanted to wipe away my tears for me, but I shook her trembling hands vigorously. She asked me softly:" Do you hate mom? "" Yes! I hate! "I bite He answered her with teeth, and ran out with tears.
I didn’t eat that day and I fell asleep early. In the middle of the night, I was too hungry to find it, so I went to the kitchen to find food. In the dark, I saw my mother sitting on the sofa, and she muttered: "My temper must be to change, I shouldn't hit Yang Yang! I'm not right! "Looking at the crying mother, the string(绳子) in my heart was gently moved again.
My mother raised her hand to hit herself, and I finally couldn't help myself. "Mom! Daughter is sorry!" Mom got up and hugged me, her arms were so warm and so safe. Mom gently wiped tears for me. What a gracious hand!
Your new schoolbag will be brought to you; someone will give you a flower umbrella in the rain; someone will give you the three fresh stuffings; she will give you the tears of grievance!

My 10-year-old granddaughter was happy the day before yesterday because her mother took her and her friend to a park to celebrate Children’s Day. For a whole day, the two girls played heartily---no homework, no extra-curricular (课外) skills training. The happy life lasted only for one day. Yesterday, everything returned to normal: doing homework till late at night and going over lessons learned at last weekend’s English and “Olympic maths” courses.
Every time I went to my daughter’s house in the evening, I saw her sitting by the small desk in the room doing her homework. On the wall behind the desk are some words she wrote. One sentence reads: “Why is the exercise endless?” Poor girl!
Although teachers have stopped giving after-school homework to primary school children, parents have been forcing their kids to attend different courses-learning English, painting, “Olympic maths” and so on, every Saturday and Sunday.
Are these extra-curricular courses really necessary in children’s education? The answer is certainly “No”. Take the so-called “Olympic maths” for example. These courses are very difficult for the children to understand. Often, they are difficult even for adults.

A. The “Olympic Maths” is too difficult for kids.
B. The grandfather thinks playing is more important than learning.
C. Teachers often give students useless homework.
D. The parents don’t want their kids to do lots of homework.

I have never taken cooking classes. I learned cooking from my mother because she was really interested in teaching me how to cook. The main reason for this was because when my mother got married, she didn't know how to cook anything, not even an egg. My grandmother never allowed her to stay in the kitchen when she was cooking.
My mother did not start to cook until she was 25 years old. In the beginning, it was very hard for her. So, she had to take cooking classes to prepare(准备) our meals. After having that experience, she decided to teach me how to cook because she didn't want me to have the same experience.
I remember when I was seven years old, and my mother was cooking, I was with her in the kitchen enjoying cooking. I always helped her. Sometimes we prepared meals that my mother already knew how to make, and sometimes we prepared them from recipes. Nowadays, I am really thankful for that experience because I don't need help to cook a meal. I can cook for me alone or for a group of people; it doesn't matter.
I will do the same with my children because I don't want them to have the same experience as my mother. If one day I am not with them, I want to be sure that they can carry on their lives without me.
1. The writer’s mother learned cooking _______.
A. from the writer’s grandmother
B. all by herself
C. by taking cooking class
2.The underlined word recipes in this passage most probably means _______.
A. instructions on how to cook food
B. experiences of cooking food
C. some well-known cooks
3.We can learn from the passage that the writer’s children will _______.
A. hate cooking
B. learn cooking
C. teach cooking
4. The writer must think cooking is _______ to learn in life.
A. interesting B. difficult C. necessary
5.According to the passage, which of the following statements is TRUE?
A. the writer’s mother didn't know how to cook anything but an egg.
B. the writer’s mother started to cook after 25 years old.
C. the writer’s mother taught the writer how to cook because she disliked cooking.
