It is well known that twins are closer to each other than most brothers and sisters; after all, they probably spend more time with each other. In Britain there was the famous case of the silent twins, June and Jennifer Gibbons, who refused to talk to anyone but each other.
However, these special relationships are the result of lives spent almost completely in each other’s company. What happens when twins do not grow up together? Are they just like any other strangers, or are there still special similarities between them? Professor Tom Bouchard who works in the University of Minnesota set out to find the answer to this question. He followed sixteen pairs of twins, who lived in different families. Each twin was then interviewed about their life.
The results were surprising. Many of the twins were found to have the same hobbies or habits, and some have suffered the same illnesses. A large number of the twins have had children at almost the same times; sometimes they have even given them the same names. But the most surprising similarities are to be found in the case of Jim Springer and Jim Lewis. The story of the “Jim Twins” made headline news across USA, and they even appeared on national television. Born in 1939, and brought up by different families at birth, both babies were named Jim by their new parents.
So what can be the explanation for these similarities? Research into the lives of twins makes us believe our personalities may be at least partly due to nature. On the other hand, some surprising coincidences(巧合) do happen all the time, not just in the lives of twins.

B.What makes the twins have similar hobbies or habits?

C.They had children almost at the same time.

3.What does the author want to tell us by writing the last paragraph?
A.Surprising stories between twins brought up in different families.
B.Some examples of similarities in twins brought up in different families.
C.The interesting relationship between twins brought up in different families.

Most mobile phone companies design(设计)models especially for children. But parents are usually the ones buying the phones, and paying the phones. According to a study, 56% of parents of children aged 8 to 12 have given their children a mobile phone. Most children get their first mobile phone at the age of 12.
Many parents think it’s necessary for children to have a mobile phone because it helps children stay in touch with their friends and families. Children are children after all, and most of them speak their mind. When they are just toddlers(幼儿), they are all lovely and lively. And it’s so interesting to watch them speak like a grown-up. But as they grow, these same kids seem annoying and ill-mannered if they try to be a grown-up.
Conflicts(矛盾) go between parents and children. It’s hard to tell who are right and who are wrong. A child of 7-8 always finds some reasons to have a conflict with it’s parents. Whether it is about some toy, studies, a party or a company, there is always a difference between them. And it becomes worse when they answer you back. Scientists tell us that children should be treated with care. Yes, sure they should respect their elders.
We are partly responsible(有责任的) for this. At an early age we encourage children to behave like adults, just because we find it funny. The kids on the other hand consider this same behavior as normal and get used to it. And when it is not funny for us any more, we expect them to stop it, but by then it is already too late. Only when they reach a certain maturity(成熟) will the children realize that answering back and being rude are not acceptable(可接受的). Until then, most of the time their behavior is difficult to change, unless by force(暴力). And use of force is against the every good idea, as it weakens the child’s confidence.
So it is one thing to bring a child into this world but quite another to make them into well mannered citizens. The best way is to be a good example ourselves, as our children are the mirrors of us adults.
