The most common form of public transportation is the bus. They provide transportation service in cities and towns even to countryside around the city. Also, special buses can be chartered (包租) for trips to mountains to lakes, and to nearby places of interest. But usually they can't run as fast as you want.
Undergrounds are mostly found in larger cities, such as New York, London, Beijing and so on. The underground is a underground system of high-speed trains. The world's first system was built in London. Underground trains move more quickly than buses. They, too, are cheap and help solve city traffic problems. But they are often crowed and noisy.
Taxis are more expensive than buses or underground trains, but they will drive you to the place you want in the shortest time possibly. Taxis are suitable if you are in a hurry or if you are taking a number of handbags or packages.
If you ever visit a big city in another country, you will probably have no trouble getting around. Like many people, of course, transportation will be your own two legs!

A New Kind of Hero
In the Olympics, star athletes always get public’s attention. In the past, the athletes who got the gold medal in Olympics were popular. But now athletes who are not the winner, such as Lin Dan and Fu Yuanhui, also become popular.
Fu Yuanhui, 20 years old, is a Chinese backstroke(仰泳) athlete. She became a popular star on social media(媒体) with her exaggerated(夸张的) expressions, instead of her bronze medal(铜牌) in the women’s 100- meter backstroke. After the semi- final, she was asked if she had saved some energy for the final. Fu answered with a shock face, “ I have been using my ‘ pre – historical’ power ( an online phrase in China which means the power of nature that can turn the world upside down).” This cute answer made her popular. Her happy personality (个性) won her millions of fans on the Internet overnight. People called her the “Pre – historical Girl”. She has become a new hero of Chinese people. She taught us a lesson: Sport is about the struggle (奋斗)and enjoyment, and most definitely not about gold medal.
Winning used to be everything for China’s Olympians. Athletes who got gold have fame and fortune(财富), while those who disappointed often got ignored even criticized (批评). Liu Xiang became a national hero at the 2004 Athens Olympics. But four years later at the Beijing Olympics, when an injury (受伤) forced him to give up running just before his first race, he was criticized.
Now, China is ready to welcome a sports star without a gold medal. Public attitudes toward competitive sports (竞技运动) and the Olympics have lifted to a higher level.

Bicycle sharing systems are also known as yellow bicycle programs, white bicycle programs, public bikes, or free bikes. They are increasingly popular in Europe now. Paris has the world’s largest urban (城市的) cycle rental system.
This is a bike rental station in Paris. The workers are showing how to use a new self-service bike. They say that Paris will become “a green capital of bikes” and they plan to park 20,000 bicycles at 1,600 stations. Paris created this plan to reduce waste gas displacement (废气排气量).
At a rental station, you only have to put your credit card into the machine to rent a bike. It provides French, German, English and Chinese services. If you ride the bike for only 30 minutes to relax, you needn’t pay for it. A two-hour bike rent only costs you 4 euros.
These stations work for 24 hours every day, so a bike is rented for 10 to 14 times a day. In this way there are 200,000 people using bikes a day.
In the past few years, Paris has encouraged its people to ride bikes, but something unhappy has happened now and then. Some people break the traffic rules during rush hours. Some park their bikes everywhere. So how to park their bikes is a problem that Paris will face. But this project is still a helpful way to improve its traffic environment.
1.Bicycle rental system can help Paris become a ______.
A. fashion capital
B. sleepy city

D. green capital of stations

3.According to the passage, the problem that Paris will deal with is ______.
