Being happy is an ability, which means we need to learn how to do it. This, perhaps, explains why around one in four undergraduate students at Yale University in the US have signed up (报名) for its Psychology and the Good Life course this semester. The course actually set a record of being the most popular in Yale’s 316-year history.
Laurie Santos, the psychology professor who will be running the course, believes that the high school lives which her students must have had are the reason that the course is so popular. It’s likely that students who get into top universities like Yale had a difficult time in high school. In order to stand out, they had to surround themselves with endless tests, competitions, and so-called “hobbies”, which made them very unhappy. "A lot of us are anxious (焦虑的), stressed, numb (麻木的)," Alannah Maynez, a 19-year-old undergraduate student at Yale, told The New York Times,“and I won’t miss such a chance.”
Yale isn’t the first university to offer such courses. Back in 2006, Harvard introduced its Positive Psychology class, and about 900 students signed up for it. There are now many universities in the US that have started courses on positive psychology, including the University of Pennsylvania and Claremont Graduate University.
It may sound sad when Harvard student Nancy Cheng called Positive Psychology a “self-help class”. But it’s a good thing that students accept that they have a problem, instead of having to pretend that everything is fine in front of everyone.
It’s true that being happy is an ability, and it’s OK that you may not have it yet. However, it’s never too early—or too late—to start learning.

3.How many universities that have positive psychology courses are mentioned in the passage?

4.What does the underlined word “pretend” mean?
A.掩盖 B.假装 C.承认
5.From the passage, we can know that________.
A.it’s never too early or too late to start learning how to be happy

Divided into two groups, the students were busy in a kitchen at the High Point Community Center in Seattle, US. Instructor Asia Faircloth taught one group how to cook vermicelli (意式细面) bowls with chicken. The other group joined Jacob Alhadeff to practice new skills with knives.
The center’s four-week cooking course was centered on cooking and food justice. To teach more people about the importance of having nutritious food, the city had students from low-income families through social media. Each student received 100 dollars (700 yuan) at the end of the course.
“Low-income people are more likely to feel the effects of food injustice,” Alhadeff said. “So providing cooking instruction and putting money back in the pockets of our community members seemed like a no-brainer (容易做的决定).”
Alhadeff and Faircloth started the course not only to teach kids how to cook, but also to encourage them to think more deeply about food. They were shown how to connect personal choices with the economic cost of obesity, climate change and global food supplies.
Tahir Adams and Najah Goodrich, two juniors at Seattle Lutheran High School, joined the classes. They talked about how farmers have a hard time putting food on their own kitchen tables while growing fresh products for the rest of the country. They were proud of the new skills and recipes they learned.
“We started with more personal things, then looked at the bigger, global view ... like, how climate change is related to food,” Adams said. “It can be really bad when droughts turn places into actual deserts and droughts cause civil unrest.”

A.taught how to reduce obesity B.taught to focus on problems about food safety
C.taught to make their own choices D.encouraged to think more deeply about food
