Dear Disney, Last weekend, the four members of my family spent an enjoyable holiday at the Magic Kingdom - Disneyland. And one event made our visit seem truly magical. We got to the front of the line at Space Mountain, only to find out that our little daughter Gloria couldn't take her ice-cream on the ride. We were so excited that we all forgot ice-cream was not allowed on the ride. Gloria broke into tears and we all had no idea what to do. Then Murphy, one of the staff(员工) members, came over. She bent down and told Gloria that she would hold the ice-cream for her and give it to her when she finished the ride. Gloria said, "Promise?" Then she gave Murphy her ice-cream, and she completely enjoyed the ride. Sure enough, as we walked out the exit, there was Gloria's new friend with "her" ice-cream. Now you and I both know what happened, because we know that an ice-cream won't last twenty minutes on a summer afternoon in Florida. Murphy knew' what time we would get off the ride; she went to the nearest shop and bought a brand-new ice-cream thirty seconds before we walked out the exit. Gloria said, "Thank you," but I'm sure she thought it was the same ice-cream. We know that someone tried hard to make our visit special. Thanks so much for going above and beyond! Last weekend Victor joined in an interesting event at the Civic Center. It was the Bamboo Expo. "I advise that anyone who likes to learn about new things should go there next weekend. It's your last chance," Victor told his friends this morning.
Victor didn't think he would enjoy it very much, but he really did. He never dreamed that so many things could be made from bamboo. In countries such as China, Japan and India, people have used bamboo in many ways for thousands of years. One display at the Expo was set up as a bamboo hut, like many found in Southeast Asia. The walls were bamboo. The roof was covered with bamboo leaves. The pipes bringing water into the house and out into the fields were bamboo. So were the cooking pots, drinking cups and shoes. Even the bed was made of bamboo.
Victor also learned that it isn't just pandas that eat tender bamboo shoots. The shoots are eaten with rice by millions of people in Asia.
"Here in the US, we're just getting to ,know bamboo," Victor said. "We're starting to realize how useful this light but strong plant can be. I'll never think of bamboo in the same way again. Now I'll see it in my home, thanks to what I bought at the show. Check it out! There's much to see, buy and learn."
1.When will the Bamboo Expo end?
2.Did Victor think he would enjoy the Bamboo Expo before he went there?
3.How long have people in China, Japan and India used bamboo?
4.What's the Chinese meaning for the underlined words "a bamboo hut"?
5.What does Victor mainly tell us in this passage?

When you were at school, the last thing you probably wanted to do was spend your weekends going to work. There was homework to do, sport to play and fun to be had. But our parents probably advise us to find a job to make some pocket money and get some life experience. When I was a teenager I had a paper round: delivering newspapers to people's homes. I then turned to a Saturday job in a supermarket: putting the things on the shelves in order and working at the checkout.
Today in the UK you are allowed to work from the age of 13, and many children take up part-time jobs. It's a taste of independence. Teenagers agree that it teaches valuable lessons about working with adults and about managing your money. So, that's no bad thing!
Some research has shown that not taking on a Saturday or holiday job could be detrimental to a person later. A 2015 study by the UK Commission on Employment and Skills found that employer's(雇主) organizations criticized young adults because they were ill-prepared for full time work. And they were proved not having taken part-time work at school age. However, a recent report has shown that the number of school children in the UK with a part-time job has fallen by 20% in the past five years.
So, does this mean that British teenagers are now more afraid of hard work? Probably not. Some experts feel that young people think going out to work will influence their performance at school, and they are under more pressure now to study hard and get good exam results---and a good job in the long term. However, Geoff Barton, general secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders, told BBC News that "Proper part-time work is a good way to help young people learn skills that they will need in their working lives." It's all about getting the right balance between doing part-time work and having enough time to study and rest.
Many young people actually want to work because it gives them a sense of freedom. One 13-year-old girl called Rachel, who has a Saturday job in a shop, told the BBC that "I enjoy my job because I'm making money and it helps my confidence speaking to people and socializing with people I work with." That seems like something worth getting up for on a Saturday morning. Did you do a part-time job when you were at school?
1.According to the passage, teenagers probably prefer ________________________________________________________________________________ on the weekend.
A. doing homework to having fun with friends
B. playing sports outside to doing homework at home
C. having fun with their parents to playing sports outside
D. playing sports to delivering newspapers to people's homes
2.What does the word "detrimental" in Paragraph 3 probably mean?
A. Harmful. B. Impossible. C. Important. D. Worthy.
3.According to the passage, Geoff Barton probably agrees that ________________________________________________________________________________ .
A. Teenagers like taking part-time jobs more than full-time jobs.
B. doing part-time jobs is more important than studying and resting.
C. taking up part-time jobs benefits teenagers' future working lives.
D. teenagers are under more pressure now to study hard and get good grades.
4.What's the writer's main purpose in writing the passage?
A. To call people's attention to the school children
B. To Criticize school children are out of control
C. To show school children dislike part-time jobs
D. To encourage school children to take part-time jobs
