It's late evening in the middle of the winter. The snow is deep, but off I go into the wild.
Suddenly, I hear it: the howl(嚎叫)of wolves. Excitedly, I walk faster in the direction of the howling.
I've been working as a volunteer wolf tracker in Yellowstone National Park for over a year It's my job to follow wolves to record information about them. Like wolves, however, I don't work alone. I'm one of a team of people who have been in a project to help reintroduce wolves to the park.
Humans have always feared wolves. From fairy tales to movies, the wolf is always the bad guy —a danger to humans and other animals. In the 1920s, the organizers of the park shared this view about wolves and made the decision to drive them away from the park. As a result, the number of elk (麋鹿)in the park increased. The elk started looking for food near river banks since they didn't have to worry about wolves. This, in turn, stopped trees from growing along the rivers, doing great harm to the environment there.
The return of wolves has already made a big difference. To begin with, the elk soon learned to stay away from the rivers, so new trees have been able to grow there. The trees become home to new wildlife, such as birds, and provide food for more animals.
The park is now becoming more and more popular with those who want to see wolves in their natural environment. It has also helped the local people make more money. Tourists visit the area, stay in the local hotels, and eat in the local restaurants.
Looking at the wild animals and the beautiful sceneries around me, I am amazed at the changes the wolf has made to Yellowstone. And happily, it is playing a good guy in this story.

When rain falls and no trees grow.
For kids it's the snow they desire,
And cups of cocoa before the fire.
When winter is gone, the grass grows,
Roses and trees, light wind blows,
The bees are buzzing, the birds are singing,
Sheep are grazing and cow bells are ringing.
And then the sun starts to shine too brightly,
It is so hot that fans are put on nightly.
And then it's off to the beach or pool,
Where people swim about just to keep cool.
All the leaves on the trees turn golden-brown,
And when on the ground make a big sound.
In autumn a lot of money he spends,
For clearing leaves on the backyards.
Each season has its own goods and its bads,
But since they are different I am glad.

Here in Siberia (西伯利亚), the winter is always very long and it’s very, very cold! It starts to snow in November and the snow won’t leave until May. The temperature is usually about -25℃, but it’s sometimes much colder. When it’s -35℃, children can’t go to school, but grown-ups still go to work! We wear a lot of warm clothes: socks and boots, sweaters and fur coats. All the houses have heating, so it’s never cold inside. In winter, we close the windows to stop the wind from getting in, and we don’t open them again until spring.
In spring and summer it rains a lot, and we don’t often see the sun. In summer it’s often about 25℃, but the weather is very changeable. One day it’s 25℃, and the next day it’s 10℃. People say that the weather was even colder in the past.
1.How long is Siberia’s snowy time?
2.What are used in Siberia to keep the people and houses warm?
3.Do children go to school when it’s -35℃ in winter?
4.What’s the weather like in spring?
5.How does the weather in Siberia often change in summer?

It is late at night. A car stops in the middle of a forest. After dropping off their three teenagers, the parents say "good luck" and drive away.1..
It may sound crazy to you, but this is a special tradition in the Netherlands(荷兰) called “dropping”. Dutch(荷兰的) people believe that children should not depend too much on their parents.2.American parenting writer Lenore Skenazy said, “When you let children out doing some things by themselves, all the good things happen -the self-confidence and happiness."
Although the Dutch enjoy this tradition, other people think it's a bad idea. 3.“I don't think it's a nice thing for kids," said one parent from the US. “It's late and long and kids might be scared."
People have many different opinions about parenting. 4.They worry too much about their children and pay attention to everything they do - like something flying over their children. In their eyes, children need to be protected all the time.
What is a good parenting style? An American Parenting expert kenneth Ginsburg says “5.”. As Ginsburg writes “parents should make sure their children don't crash (碰撞) against the rocks, yet allow them to ride the waves, even if they get a little choppy (波涛汹涌的) sometimes”.
A. Some parents don't think it is responsible (负责任的) parenting.
B. The teenagers, totally lost, have to find their way back home by themselves.
C. And they should learn how to solve problems through activities like “dropping”.
D. Good parents need to find a balance between protecting their children and letting go.
E. The teenagers have fun singing and dancing together and don't want to go back home.
F. In China, some parents try too hard and become "helicopter parents”, which is basically the opposite of "dropping”.
