Today, I want to tell you some stories from my life. The first story is about connecting the dots(小圆点). Reed College, the college I attended, offered perhaps the best calligraphy(书法) lessons in the country. Calligraphy was attractive to me, so I decided to take a calligraphy class to learn how to do this. I didn’t hope for any real use of this in my life. It was just a hobby. But ten years, when we were designing the first Macintosh computer, it all came back to me.
You might be very confused about the meaning of what you are doing now. But you have to believe the dots will somehow connect in the future. Every effort you make is worth the price. It will pay off in the end. This belief has never let me down, and it has made all the differences in my life.
My second story is about love and loss. Woz and I started Apple in a garage when I was 20. But later, I got fired(解雇). How can you get fired from a company you started? Well, it just happened. What had been the focus of my entire adult life was gone, and it was so hard for me.
But it turned out to be the best thing that could have ever happened to me. It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life.
I’m pretty sure if I hadn’t been fired from Apple, I wouldn’t become who I am now. The loss completed me. Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don’t lose faith. What’s more, you have to find out what you love. The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. You’ll know when you find it.

I watched my mother flying out to get me food. My sister already flew out into the world, too. She flew just like my mother did. I didn't ever want to leave the nest. My wings were nothing like my sister’s. Mine were brown and small, and I just knew they were too weak to fly.
My mother got back and fed me. After I ate, she looked at me and said, “you're old enough now, and it is time for you to fly.”
I told her I felt bad. She said that she could wait until the next morning. But then I would have to go. I stayed close to her in the nest and tried to go to sleep.
When the sun came up the next day, I tried to look small. I knew that birds should fly away and leave the nest, but that didn't mean I could do it.
My mother asked me to watch and learn. I had watched her fly away so many times before. When I stood in the nest watching her, I was scared.
Then something happened. I fell out of the nest! I put my wings out and I was able to fly! I shouted as loudly as I could. They worked! They were strong enough to fly after all! They were wonderful. My mother flew back to the nest and watched me fly and shouted happily.

5.What does the passage mainly want to tell us?
