阅读下文并回答问题。

In the 1950s, a woman swimming player set a goal (目标) for herself. She wanted to swim across the English Channel (海峡). If she could make it, she would be the first person in the world who did it.

She faced terrible weather when she swam to the opposite (相对的) bank. Though she was tired, she still kept on swimming. But in the end, she gave up (放弃). And at that time, she didn’t know the opposite bank was only on mile away.

Later people asked her why she didn’t keep on. She answered, “Because I couldn’t see the destination (目的地) which I was really so close to reach. I lost my goal.”

The woman swimming player didn’t make her dream come true although she wasn’t far away from her success.
