It was already 8:30 in the morning. Lin Tao, a 14-year-old schoolboy, still didn't show up at school. He was often late for school! The teacher called his father and got to know he played computer games online late the night before and couldn't get up that morning. In fact, he had played online games since the age of 11. He almost dropped out of school last year.
Lin Tao is not alone. Information from China Internet Center shows that the number of teenage Internet user in China had been about 170 million by the end of December, 2017. Many of them, like Lin Tao, spend too much time playing computer games online.
To deal with this problem, the Chinese government worked out a draft regulation(法规草案)in January this year. According to the regulation, players need to use their own ID cards to play online games. Game companies will control teenagers' online game time. They will not be able to play online games between 12:00 at night and 8:00 in the morning. If they are still playing during the time, the game companies will lock them out.
Many people think that the regulation can surely better protect Chinese young game players online, while others doubt whether it can successfully stop them from playing games too much. "More and more people come to know that playing online games too much not only brings teenagers healthy and study problems, but also makes them depressed(沮丧的)and lonely," Tong Xiaojun, director from a university, told CCTV. "We need support from the whole society to solve the problem."
1.Which of the following is TRUE about Lin Tao?
A. He had a fight with his father. B. He dropped out of school.
C. He often arrive later for school. D. He started playing games at 14.
2.Under the regulation, players need to if they want to play online games.
A. talk with their parent. B. pay for them
C. call the game companies D. use their own ID card
3.We can learn from the passage that .
A. not many young people have the same problem as Lin Tao in China
B. it is impossible to control teenagers' online game time
C. the game contpanies will offer teenagers prizes if they play well
D. everyone should play a part in controlling teenagers' online game time

Dear Lin Tao,
How are you? Right now I'm watching the weather report on TV. It says it will snow in Beijing. But it's summer in Australia now! Our summer is in December, January and February. It's really hot now. I like summer because my favorite sports are swimming, beach volleyball and surfing.
Our autumn is from March to May. Some trees turn yellow and orange, but many trees are green all year. The weather is warm and sunny. We often go to the Blue Mountains to enjoy the fresh air!
Winter in Sydney starts in June and ends in August. The weather is not very cold. It never snows, but it rains a lot. Helen and I like to watch football games, even in the rain. Sometimes we go to a beach and watch whales swimming in the sea.
Spring here is from September to November, I like spring best. The weather gets warmer and everything begins to grow. Trees turn green and flowers come out. My family often has a barbecue at a park or on a beach.
What about the seasons in Beijing? I know they are really different! What do you usually do in different seasons?
Please write back soon!

It was 6:00 on a Monday morning. With his books in his bag, 13-year-old James Mwangi was on his way to school, the Mcedo-Beijing school in a slum(贫民窟)in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi (肯尼亚首都内罗毕). This school was built in 2001 with the help of China, for children from poor families.
After getting to school, Mwangi went straight to his class to do his class work. It is usual that pupils in this school prepare for their lessons before the teacher comes.
To study in the school was once a dream for the poor boy. His mother made a living by washing clothes for others. Some days she took home nothing, and some days she could get about $ 3 — it was hardly enough to buy them a full meal for a day.
Before joining the Mcedo-Beijing school, Mwangi was at home with his seven brothers, collecting garbage (垃圾). The school is giving these children hope for the future by providing a chance to get education.
“For me, education is the best gift,” said Mwangi.

It’s early in the morning and the alarm clock has already rung several times. You have to drag yourself out of bed and rush to school. As a school student, this is probably a common experience for you. But thanks to new rules, many students in Zhejiang and Heilongjiang provinces can now stay in bed longer than before. On Feb 23th, the Zhejiang Department of Education published a new guideline that asks primary schools to start school later. According to the guideline, start times could vary among different grades and seasons, with students in Grade 1 and 2 starting no earlier than 8:30a.m. A similar guideline was announced by the education department in Heilongjiang province on Feb 24th. Since the new term began in March, students from all primary and junior high schools have been required to arrive at school no earlier than 8 a.m. And senior high school students are now required to arrive at school no earlier than 7:30a.m. These changes are aimed at making sure students get adequate sleep and enough time for breakfast.
According to a 2016 study, only 54.1 percent of students in Grade 4 slept 9 hours or more a night, while the required sleep time for primary students is 10 hours. These changes have received much praise. “I definitely welcome the move, since this will ensure my son has enough time for breakfast, which is important for his health and growth,” a mother from Hangzhou told China Daily. Pushing back school times isn’t unique to China. In the United States, schools in at least 21 states began to start school later in 2017. According to a 2015 report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the US, later school start times could help improve students’ health and study performance. Just as Mary Carskadon, a sleep expert from Brown University, US, told The Atlantic, “Everybody learns better when they’re awake.”

A. Heilongjiang B. Hubei C. Zhejiang D. Chongqing
2.How long does a primary student need to sleep every day?

5.What’s the main idea of this passage?
A. It’s important for students to keep healthy.
B. Students should get up early to go to school.
C. Students should have enough time to have breakfast.
D. It’s good for students to start school later.
