Taekwondo (跆拳道）is the national sports of South Korea. The name taekwondo was created by Choi Hong Hi, a Korean general in 1955. In 1966, he established the International Taekwondo Federation (ITF). Seven years later, another organization, the World Taekwondo Federation(WTE), was created. And under its guidance taekwondo became an official medal sport at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia.
