Find a Job This Summer
This summer there are things that students can do to earn some pocket money or to help others. Also, many programs are offered by provincial government and its partners to help students find summer jobs. Here are a few ideas.
Deliver Newspapers
Teenagers can deliver newspapers—usually you ride a bike around a neighborhood and leave the newspaper at each house. Normally you have to have your own bike—and you have to get up early too, because people want their newspapers to read with their breakfast. If you are 15-18 and return to school this fall, you can find jobs of this kind.
Wash Cars
It's crazy for adults to drive to an expensive car wash when they can get a teenager to do the job for less money. Wash the car well and carefully and people will want you to do it again. Then you've got customers!
Give Older People a Hand
Lots of older people are happy for teenagers to help them carry their shopping or do small things for them, like washing or keeping them company (陪伴). You earn money or not, and people in the neighborhood get your help.
Job Programs
If you are a student living in certain communities of the province, you are lucky. There are programs that provide four weeks of paid jobs along with training. After that, you can start and run your own summer business, and you have a chance of winning awards of up to $1000. Go to the government website to learn more about these programs. People under 25 could build skills, find a job or start businesses all year round.
They are all great ideas. Just choose one of them to make some money. Then spend it or save it. But don't forget it's important always to tell an adult where you are going.
1.What is special about Deliver Newspapers?
A.It requires one to get up early. B.It needs patience and strong body.
C.It offers help to neighbors. D.It gives training before work.

3.What can you learn from the passage?

Dolphins are my favorite animals. They live on fish, shrimps (虾) and so on. They are mammals (哺乳动物). Their babies are born in the water. They can grow up to three meters and a half as their parents. Dolphins live in groups and speak to each other in their own language. But they are quite different from almost all land animals. Their brain is as big as humans’, so they are very clever. People often train them so that they can give dolphin shows which can bring people lots of happiness and joy. Dolphins can live a long life—at least 20 or 30 years. Like some other animals, dolphins use sounds to help them find their way around. They also use these sounds to talk to each other and to help them find food. So sound is like their eyes and mouths. They do not use their ears to receive sounds, but use the jaws (下颚)- the lower part of the mouth.
Dolphins are friendly and peaceful. They never hurt people. Instead, they have saved many people in danger. For thousands of years, there are many stories about dolphins and humans. In the 19th century, in a dangerous part of the sea near New Zealand, there was a dolphin. The seamen liked him very much and gave him a very good name, Jack. From 1871 to 1903, Jack met every boat in the area and showed it the way. In1903, a passenger on a boat with the name of “The Penguin” shot and hurt Jack. Luckily, the dolphin didn’t die, and after a long time, he was well again. He guides the boats through the area for nine more years, but he refused to help the boat “The Penguin”.
Unluckily, the number of the dolphins is getting smaller and smaller today. Some people still kill dolphins for money. If we don’t protect them, maybe we will lose our good friends one day. As a student, I hope more and more people should take action to protect dolphins.
根据短文内容,判断下列句子正误。正确的用“A”表示,不正确的用“B” 表示。
1.Dolphins are not only fish but also mammals.
2.Dolphins use their jaws to receive sounds.
3.Jack is a name of a seaman.
4.At last, Jack didn’t help the ship “The Penguin” any more.
