Dear Sir,
I have to travel every day from Souk Road to the airport. Two buses travel along their route (路线): the number 49 and number 16. But by the time the number 16 bus reaches Souk Road it is always full, so I can’t get on it. I have to wait for the number 49, because sometimes there are empty seats on it.
The timetable says that there are buses from Souk Road to the airport every ten minutes. If this is so, why do I have to wait half an hour for a bus nearly every day?
The regulations say that if there are empty seats on a bus, the bus must stop at every stop where people are waiting. Why do the half-empty buses go straight past me when I am standing at the bus stop?
The regulations say that no bus may carry more than 40 seated passengers and 20 standing passengers. Yesterday I was the first to get off the bus when it reached the airport. I counted the other passengers as they got off. There were 129 of them.
It is clear that our bus companies break the regulations and think little of their passengers. Can nothing be done to make your service better?
Yours

Every day on the road, accidents are caused. They do not only happen. The reason may be easy to see: an overloaded tray, a shelf out of reach, a patch of ice on the road. But more often than not there is a chain of events leading up to the misfortune-frustration, tiredness or just bad temper-that show what the accident really is, a sort of attack on oneself.
Road accidents, for example, happen frequently after a family quarrel, and we all know people who are accident-prone, so often at odds with themselves and the world that they seem to cause accidents for themselves and others.
By definition, an accident is something you cannot predict or avoid, and the idea which used to be current, that the majority of road accidents are caused by a minority of criminally careless drivers, is not supported by insurance statistics. These show that most accidents involve ordinary motorists in a moment of carelessness or thoughtlessness.
It is not always clear, either, what sort of conditions make people more likely to have an accident. For instance, the law requires all factories to take safety actions and most companies have safety committees to make sure the regulations are observed, but still, every day in Britain, some fifty thousand men and women are absent from work due to an accident. These accidents are largely the result of human error or misjudgment-noise and fatigue, boredom or worry are possible factors which contribute to this. Doctors who work in factories have found that those who drink too much, usually people who have a high anxiety level, run three times the normal risk of accidents at work.
1.This passage might be written to ________ .
A.college students B.drivers
C.ordinary citizens D.businessmen
2.“Accident-prone” in Paragraph 2 means________.
A.likely to have accidents B.injured in accidents
C.likely to die in accidents D.responsible for road accidents
3.The passage suggests that ________.
A.accidents mostly result from slippery roads
B.accidents are usually caused by psychological factors
C.doctors run three times the normal risk of accidents in factories
D.about 50,000 people lost their lives at work in Britain every day
4.Which of the following is NOT discussed as a factor of accidents in this passage?
A.Mood B.Carelessness C.Tiredness D.Weather
5.What do you think would be the best title for the passage?
A.Accidents and Human B.Why accidents happen
C.Human Factors in Accidents D.How to Prevent Accidents

My family recently did our first major road trip, traveling from our Maryland home to Disney World in Florida. Though we’re no strangers to travel, a trip of this length was a new experience for us with three children. What helped us enjoy our trip so much? Our schedule, of course! So keeping a schedule when you travel can help make your trip a success.
Don’t sleep the day away.
I know you’re on vacation. The kids have a break from school, and you’re excited to be out of the office. Let everyone sleep for a bit, but Still make it a point to rise at a reasonable hour and get active to start the day. Not only will you see and do more on your trip, but it will make it easier to eat regularly, get the kids down at nap time (午觉), and then go to bed without a struggle.
Eat regularly.
Time is easy to go by while you’re running through a theme park, or exploring (考察) a museum. Be prepared for meals because hungry kids are often quick to turn into a headache for you. Pack a snack and drink bag and make sure to stop regularly for a bite to eat while you’re out. Keeping a regular meal schedule can help everyone keep up their energy and enjoy the day.
Take a nap.
Does your baby take a daily nap? Naps are very important for baby’s development. They also help little ones to pick up their strength, or vacations can be exhausting (疲惫的) for little minds and bodies.
Go to bed at a reasonable hour.
Everyone can get tired out on vacation. Don’t allow anyone to stay up late every night. Mom, dad, and kids are all sure to be miserable if they don’t get enough sleep. If bedtime gets delayed (推迟), adjust your travel plans accordingly.

A. the writer is a stranger traveling in the U.S.
B. the writer is familiar with travel and has much experience
C. a proper schedule helped the writer enjoy his trip to Maryland

3.What kind of people is the passage mainly written for?
A. Travelers to the U.S.
B. Travel companies or agencies.
C. Teenagers crazy about traveling.
D. Parents who plan a family travel.
4.During the trip, the author will agree that .
A. taking a nap during the day is necessary for the children
B. games and enjoyable activities can last until late at night
C. brunch is a good choice if you sleep late in the morning
D. the bedtime should be changed if the travel plan changes
