A video of a hungry and thin polar bear in Canada’s wilderness has gone popular on the Internet. The video shows the bear is in search of food, walking across land with no snow or ice. It is all skin and bones. The bear is looking for food in waste containers. It is at times too weak to support its own body weight and difficult to stand. Paul Nicklen, the photographer who took the video, said the polar bear’s trouble was a clear sign of the surprising effect of climate change. He said filming the animal made them sad. He explain his team members were “holding their tears and emotions(情感) while recording this dying polar bear”.
Mr. Nicklen is part of the environmental group Sea Legacy. His team was on Canada’s Baffin Island to get a documentary on conservation. He said the bear they filmed was not old and probably died within hours. He said, “This is what hunger looks like. The muscles weaken. No energy. It’s a slow, painful death.” he blamed the bear’s sad trouble on global warming. He said, “As temperatures rise and sea ice melts, polar bears lose the main food of their diets-seals.” Climate change is the biggest threat to the world’s 26,000 polar bears. The video explains that bears are “hungry, and running out of energy” and are “forced to walk into human living places for any food”.

Do you think of white when someone talks about a polar bear? In fact, the polar bear does not have white fur. It just appears to be white. Polar bears have a very good sense of smell. It helps them to find food. During summer, polar bears sleep longer, because they are able to find their food more easily at night. Usually, after a meal, polar bears have a short sleep. A polar bear can have 2-3 babies at a time. They live with their mothers until they are about two-and-a-half years old.
However, polar bears will die out soon because of people. There are only 20,000 to 25,000 polar bears in the world. The ones that are left are trying to survive today. The number of polar bears is becoming smaller and smaller because of the loss of sea ice— polar bears mostly inhabit (居住于) the sea ice, not the land ice. This is happening because of global warming (全球气候变暖), pollution, hunting and so on.
Ordinary people don't care, but great people have the power and want to save tigers, fight for giant pandas and save polar bears. Ordinary people will wait, but great people will find a new world. You have probably heard of tomato throwing and the polar bear swim, but have you ever heard of the sport of cheese rolling?
Cheese rolling is an event that takes place every spring at Cooper's Hill,Gloucestershire(a county in England, west of London). People say that cheese rolling is one of Great Britain's oldest customs. Some say the custom started even before the Romans lived in that country 2000 years ago. Most say cheese rolling has been going on for at least a couple of centuries as a celebration of the onset (beginning)of summer.
Each year, thousands of spectators come to Cooper's Hill to watch people chase ( run after) a three kilogram round of Double Gloucester Cheese down the hillside. There are separate races for men and women, and uphill races for boys and girls too. The winners get to keep the rounds of cheese they have tried so hard to catch. However, no one ever catches the cheese because it runs fast down the slope(斜坡)at nearly 110 kilometers per hour !
It is funny to imagine people chasing a little wheel of cheese as it rolls down a hill, but maybe it is not so funny to see it because Cooper's Hill is very Steep(陡峭的).Every year, several of the cheese chasers tumble down the hill. Often, people have their bones broken, but this has not stopped the event from taking place.

One night in December 2011, a bear came into the city of Vancouver in Canada. It walked through the streets, past houses, shops and offices until it found some food in bins outside a restaurant and started eating. In the morning, someone saw the bear and called the police. They came with a vet(兽医)from the city zoo, put the bear in a lorry and took it back to the mountains. Luckily, the bear was safe, but what happens in other countries when big animals come into cities?
Big animals usually come into cities to find food. In Cape Town, South Africa, baboons(狒狒)enter the city when they are hungry. They go into gardens and eat fruit from trees, or into houses and take food from cupboards(碗橱)and fridges. Baboons are strong animals and they can scare people. But the city can be dangerous for baboons too.
Sometimes, they are killed in traffic accidents. Human food is very bad for their teeth because it has a lot of sugar. Now, there are baboon monitors(监督员)working in Cape Town to return the animals to the countryside.
In Berlin, pigs sometimes come into the city to look for food. They eat flowers and plants from parks and gardens, and cause accidents in the streets. Some people like the pigs and they give them food and water to drink. Other people do not like the pigs and want the government and police to stop them.
In Moscow there are 35, 000 wild dogs. They live in parks, old houses, markets and train stations. Many people give them food and water. Some make small houses for the dogs in their gardens. This helps them in winter, when the temperature is-10℃ and there is a lot of snow and ice.
In some cities, you can see birds, insects, mice and squirrels every day. But sometimes, it is dangerous when big animals come from the countryside to find food. We need some good ideas to stop animals coming into the city without hurting them.
1.Why do big animals go into cities, according to the article?
A.Because they are hungry. B.Because they are homeless.
C.Because they are lost. D.Because they like being with humans.
2.Why should we stop animals from entering cities?
A.Because they often kill people in the streets.
B.Because they eat too much food in people's gardens.
C.Because they may harm other animals in the city.
D.Because they may cause trouble and endanger people's lives.
3.Which of the following is TRUE about the big animals which come into cities?
A.Bears in Vancouver are kept in the city zoo. B.Baboons are taken back to the wild.
C.Pigs are always well treated in Berlin. D.Wild dogs cause many problems in Moscow.
4.What's the article mainly about?
A.Problems caused by big animals in cities. B.Living alongside wild animals in cities.
C.How wild animals are treated in different cities. D.How to keep big animals away from cities.

Using live streaming(网络直播) is particularly popular among the people aged 18 to 35. Even the teachers give lessons by live streaming.
