Letter A
Young people are always told that they should make the most of their time, which they will never be as free again. So, my question is-why fill up all this free time with housework. Parents expect their children to get good grades, be good at sports, and be popular with other kids. However, there is not enough time in the day to do these things and then do housework as well. It’s not fair to expect teenagers to give up their precious time to do boring housework. Parents and children both have jobs. Parents’ jobs are in the workplace. Their children’s jobs are at school.
The only difference is that parents get paid and children don’t. Parents say that they make their kids do housework to teach them responsibility. But this is just a trick. Parents trick their kids into doing housework because they are lazy.

Letter B
Both parents and children have jobs. The parent’s job is to go to work to earn money. The child’s job is to go to school. But we all get hungry.Someone has to cook the meals and clean up afterward. We all wear clothes that get dirty. Someone has to wash them, iron them, and put them away.Children work from 9 until 4.Parents work from 8 until 6. Sure, after 4 o’clock, children have homework. But after 6, parents have homework too. They have to do the shopping, go to the bank, pay the bills, and help their kids with their own homework!
I think it’s only fair that teenagers help out a bit at home. They might not like it, but it’s good for them. It teaches them how to look after themselves. This is really important when they leave home to go to college or to live on their own.
Sincerely,

Young people and older people don’t always agree. They sometimes have different ideas about living, working and playing. But in one special program in New York State, adults and teenagers live together in a friendly way.
Each summer 200 teenagers and 50 adults live together for eight weeks as members of a special work group. Everyone works several hours each day. They do so not just to keep busy but to find meaning and enjoyment in work. Some teenagers work in the woods or on the farms near the village. Some learn to make things like tables and chairs and build houses. The adults teach them these skills.
There are several free hours each day. Weekends are free, too. During the free hours some of the teenagers learn photo taking or painting. Others sit around and talk or sing. Each teenager chooses his own way to spend his free time.
When people live together, rules are necessary. In this program the teenagers and the adults make the rules together. If someone breaks a rule, the problem goes before the whole group. They talk about it and ask, "Why did it happen? What should we do about it?"
One of the teenagers say about his experience, "You stop thinking only about yourself, You learn to think about the group."

When I was a child, my parents always told me that I should never talk to strangers. This was part of a whole list of things I should never do: Never accept food or candy from strangers, never get in a car with strangers, and so on.
But if we didn’t start a conversation with strangers, we’d never make new friends. We’d never get a job. We may miss the joy that comes from talking with strangers. And the more people you know, you more chances you can get.
The following passage offers you some advice on how to break the ice.
Don’t just stare at your shoes. Go and say “Hi” to that new guy. It will be easier to break the ice if you know more about different cultures.
