Almost everyone suffers from a headache sometimes. But some people suffer from repeated, frequent headaches.
What is headache? What causes it? What can be done about a headache? What research is being done on headaches?
The dictionary defines(下定义) headache simply as “a pain in the head.” What most people mean by headache is a pain which lasts several minutes or hours. It covers the whole head, or one side of it, or perhaps the front or the back of the head.To add to the confusion(困惑) about a definition, some people call tight feeling in the head a headache.
A headache is important because it can be the first warning of a serious condition which probably could be controlled if discovered early. If a person removes the warning, day after day, with a pain-killer, he may pass the point of easy control.
The professional name for covering up a symptom(症状) is “masking” (遮蔽).A headache specialist once said, “Masking symptoms is not the best way of treatment.” He compared taking a pain-killer for a headache before a cause is known with taking iron pills for anemia(贫血症) while bleeding continues undiscovered. He added, “Sometimes it is wiser to stand still than to advance in darkness.”
A headache is important also because it affects normal, happy living. The employee with a headache does less work.In a flash of temper he may upset his fellow workers or customers, causing a direct or indirect loss to his organization. The mother with a headache suffers and disturbs the family. She upsets her husband and children.

Everyone can experience anger sometimes, but not everyone can control it properly. To some people, controlling anger seems like the hardest thing in the world to do.
When it comes to anger control, there are lots of tools and things that you can do. The first technique you can use is to recognize stress when it occurs. This is extremely important as you need to understand what causes this pressure and attempt to reduce this stress before it transforms quickly into anger.
Developing empathy (移情) is another anger control skill you can learn. You can teach yourself how to reduce or eliminate (消除)anger completely by seeing things from other people’s perspective.
You need to learn how to respond to situations rather than react. Think about your response and calmly approach this rather than reacting suddenly when stress and pressure are triggered.
When you experience unwanted feelings, control these by talking to yourself in your own mind and enable yourself to deal with those feelings effectively before acting on them. By talking it over in your own head you can work out how you will best deal with the situation instead of acting on impulse (冲动), which can be destructive.
Anger control can also be achieved with the skill of being able to communicate with others with honesty. You can effectively train yourself to respond to situations without getting annoyed about things.
These feelings can quite regularly be set off by a difference in what we expect and what actually get in life. Often if things do not go our way or we feel we have been harshly treated, we will find it hard to control our anger. If you adjust your expectations, then you should be able to handle difficult situations and cope with them much better.
Finally it is vitally important to step back and think about things that are happening rather than acting too quickly. It can sometimes be very hard not to wade in (介入)and start acting before thinking about things first.
Therefore, it is important to remember that everyone has the capacity to lose their temper and controlling it is the real challenge.

People who speak or perform before the public sometimes may suffer from “Stage Fright. ” Stage fright makes a person nervous. In the worst case(情况) it can make one's mind go back and forget what one ought to say, or to act. Actors, musicians, dancers, lawyers, even radio show hosts(节目主持人) have suffered from stage fright at one time or another.
Diana Nichols is an expert in helping people free from stage fright at a medical centre in New York City. She helps actors learn to control themselves. Miss Nichols says some people have always been afraid to perform before the audience. Others, she says, develop stage fright after a fearful experience.
She offers them ways to control the fear. One way is to smile before going onto the stage. Taking two deep breaths also helps. Deep breathing helps you get control of your body.
Miss Nichols persuades her patients to tell themselves that their speech or performance does not have to the perfect. It's all right to make a mistake. She tells them they should not be too cautions(谨慎的) while they are performing. It is important that they should continue to perform while she is helping them. After each performance, they discuss what happened and find out what advice helped and what did not. As they perform more and more, they will fear less and less as much as 50%. Miss Nichols says the aim is only to reduce stage fright, not to eliminate it completely. This is because a little stage fright makes a person more cautious, and improves the performance.
