Exam time is the most stressful period for students. But help is at hand for those studying at the University of Bristol thanks to a special "puppy room”toaid relaxation and calmness.

Students are being invited to hold guide dogs and their puppies with organizers hoping the cute puppies can provide ways to reduce stresses of revision.It comes from research published in Japan, which suggests pictures of cute things like puppies or kittens can help improve concentration levels and performance.

Gordon Trevett from the university wanted to bring the puppy love to Bristol with the help of the charity Guide Dogs. He said, “Every year I see students worrying about their exams and I thought this would be a great way to ease the stress and take their minds off it. People with dogs have lower blood pressure in stressful situations than those without a dog. It's proved really popular and over 600 students have signed up. ”

There will be around 20 dogs and puppies throughout the day.To ensure the puppies aren't agitated(激怒), the number of people allowed in the room is limited and each group will last 15 minutes.Students will be asked to make a suggested donation(捐款)of 2 dollars to Guide Dogs.

Sarah Knox said, “Guide Dogs is pleased to be able to work with the University of Bristol and allow students the chance to de-stress at the busy exam time. We are sure we will meet lots of students who miss their own pet dogs while away at university. Exam time is one of the most stressful in school, whether it is high school, college or graduate school. Even the best students feel the pressure. The third option is to treat the symptoms. Keep things in perspective. Think of one final exam that causes you the most anxiety. Now think of the worst thing that could happen. If you've prepared, then likely the worst grade you could get is a C. And, if you've been applying what we've been talking about, then you'll likely to do no worse than a B. 5.

Yes, this holiday is a time to give back to others and be selfless, but there’s still a bit of “self” in selflessness, isn’t there?

4. If you start to feel a cold coming on, come to a full and complete stop.

The best way to stop a cold from exploding into a weeks-long sickness is to stop it at the start. Unless a task or activity is an absolute necessity, cancel your plans, put away your to-do lists, and settle in for a long winter’s nap. A day of rest and enough sleep is the only thing you NEED right now. Feel bad about declining holiday invitations from your friends and family? You’re doing them a favor. Once people hear that you’re sick, they’ll be glad you stayed away — they don’t want to come down with a cold during the holiday any more than you do!

It is certain that you can feel less stressed in this hectic season when you stop expecting so much from yourself, because nobody puts so much expectation on you as you do to yourself. A Canadian University is trying a new way to help reduce students' exam-time stress: dogs.

Dalhousie University is filling a room on campus with dogs from Dec.4 through Dec.6 for students to visit and play with the animals between exams.
