Answer the question.
Pop princess Britney Spears would be very happy (or sad, maybe) if she knew what her songs can do for some German farmers.
Recently, some farmers in Germany have been playing Britney’s songs very often on their farms. Not that they like her songs a lot, but that her songs can drive away the troublesome wild boars!
As the boars are an endangered species(物种) in Germany, people can’t shoot or kill them. Farmers there tried to stop the boars from destroying their crops but failed.
One day, one of the German farmers noticed that all the boars were scared away when he started to play one of Britney’s songs!
The farmer was delighted and then he tried some other singers’ songs on the boars. Madonna’s and Robbie Williams’ songs didn’t work at all. Only Britney’s songs seemed to have the magical power. Every time her songs were played on his farm, the boars would go running away in a rush.
It’s reported quite a number of German farmers are using Britney’s magic songs to protect their vegetables and fruits.

Answer the questions(根据短文内容回答下列问题)
Now it was Jerry's turn. And Jerry would ride Wild Lady! I watched Jerry in the cute.
Jerry dropped down on the horse's back. He was ready to go. "Outside!" He called.
The gate of the cute opened. And then nothing. Wild Lady didn't move. What was the matter?
Suddenly Wild Lady jumped out like a tiger. She jumped—with all four feet off the ground. She was quick, still I could see Jerry's spurs(马刺). He had them in the right place.
Again Wild Lady jumped, kicking and turning. Then she began a quick turn. Now I knew why all the riders were afraid of her. Around and around she went. Again and again she dug her front legs into the ground and kicked up behind. Jerry's neck moved back each time the horse jumped.
Now Wild Lady was turning fast—so fast that Jerry looked like part of her. Once I saw Jerry bounce(弹起)up high, off to one side. "That's it!" I thought. But no! She was still riding.
I was trying to count off the seconds with my fingers. But I was lost in the watching. I dug my nails(指甲)into my hand until it hurt. Wild Lady jumped higher and higher.
Again the horse threw Jerry into the air. The people around me stood up. I couldn't see what was happening. But I heard, "Come on!" That was Jerry landing on the horse's back. Everybody was shouting. And they were still shouting when the bell rang. It was all over, Jerry had stayed on that horse for eight long seconds.
Now I had seen Jerry ride. I don' know how he felt while he was on that horse. But I know how I felt watching him. That eight seconds was a long time for Jerry. It was a long time for me too!

( B) Answer the questions according to the passage. (10分)(必须使用完整语句作答)
Everyone knows to be careful on the first day of April. There is nothing worse than falling for a joke and being the “fool” for the day.
When I was in high school, the teachers at my school decided to play an April Fools’ joke on the students.
On March 31, the headmaster announced that our school would hold a “Dress to Impress” day. This meant that the better you dressed at school, the higher your marks would be.Boys were encouraged to wear a suit jacket and tie, while formal (正式的) dresses and smart jackets for girls would be best. The teachers, we were told, would do the same.
On April Fools’ Day, many of the students came to school dressed in their best clothes. Hair was tidy and all our shoes were well cleaned.
At the morning assembly (集会), the headmaster spoke to the students. To everyone’s surprise, she was not dressed up at all. Instead she wore shorts, running shoes and a T-shirt—the normal student uniform.
“April Fools!” she said, with a big smile on her face. “We just wanted to remind you that teachers have a sense of humor too!” The teachers got the upper hand that day. All us students spent the rest of the day feeling very foolish indeed.
1.What is the worst thing on April Fool’s Day?

2.What would students get if they dressed better?

Will the Internet be used instead of libraries?Well, the obvious(明显的) answer to this question-at least,it's obvious to me-is no!But there are many people who don't think so. They suggest closing libraries, since “you can find everything on the Internet”. In fact, they are wrong. One can't find everything on the Internet! While the Internet makes search(搜索) easy, and it is probably the best resource(资源) for many health and science topics,we really need books. We can only be sure that the information we find on the Internet is true by reading books.
Libraries offer more services than just the basic information one can find through Google. For example,a school library can provide services and different resources for all students of the school. Students have different learning ways. School libraries can deal with all of these differences.
One of the great school librarian writers,Doug Johnson, recently wrote an article about this topic. I recommend(推荐) reading it to understand this topic from different angles(角度).I especially like his last paragraph:
Don't take away either my electronic resources or my books. Both are needed to provide students with useful information. And keep in mind that a great library is not just a collection of materials-print or electronic. It is an important mixture of resources, courses and activities. It can help students not only have information, but also the necessary skills to put that information to good use.
Some people's opinion | * They think libraries should be 1.,because people can find everything on the Internet. |
The writer's opinion | * People really need books although the Internet makes search 2. * Libraries have more services than just the basic information people can3.on the Internet. |
Doug Johnson's opinion | * Both electronic resources and 4. are necessary for him. * A school library provides students with information and some 5. to put the information to good use. |
