九年级英语单项填空简单题查看答案及解析
Some students wrote to us to share their experiences and questions about what happens when friends fight.
*Billy, 11, is upset because he heard a rumor(谣言)that his best friend was talking about him.
*Jordan, 10, wonders if she can still love someone after someone makes her very angry.
*Jasmine, 9, feels a lot of pressure when she gets into a fight and knows her side of the fight is wrong.
*Emily, 11, told us that her best friend tells a lot of "little lies" and now she doesn't trust her anymore.
* David, 12, and his best friend got into a big fight and although he wants to apologize(道歉), he doesn't know how to do it.
*Krystal, 10, is sad because it seems that her best friends don't want to be friends with her anymore.
The truth is: everyone fights with his friends. Because our close friends mean so much to us, fighting with them can make us feel hurt, angry, and deeply sad.
So, accept that fights are not that serious. When you have a fight with friends, the first you should do is to sit down and just think. Think about what's going on and then try to talk to him or her. If you are wrong, saying sorry is always good. If he is really your best friend, he will forgive(原谅)you.

Many teachers believe that hands-on experiences are the best way to learn. A group of students in the United Sates is putting that belief to the test.
The students are from the Stevens Institute of Technology. They successfully designed and built a robot for discovering mines at the bottom of the sea. The underwater robot is called Perseus II. It costs about $15,000 to build. The students made the robot to answer a challenge from the U.S. Department of Defense(国防部).
The students use a video game controller to direct its movements. Devices known as
thrusters enable the robot to go up, down and toward its target in the water. Video cameras on the robot send images back to a computer through a 13-meter-long cable(电缆). Perseus II also has a set of lasers(激光), they are used to measure the size of an object.
The robot is the creation of five college students. They worked for over six months to design and build Perseus II.
"Their goal was to go down and find the mine and not only just find it but provide information to an expert on the surface so he or she could make a decision whether it was something dangerous or not before they removed it," Michael DeLorne said.
Perseus II was successfully tested in Florida with similar robots built at other engineering schools. In a separate development, new students at the Stevens Institute of Technology have already started on the next project. It is a flying vehicle they are calling Perseus III.

After that, I tried very hard not to get on her bad side too much. —Ken |

I arrived in the classroom, ready to share my knowledge and experience with 75 students who would be my English Literature class. Having taught in ____ for 17 years, I had no doubt about my ability to hold their attention and to impress on them my admiration for the literature of my mother tongue.
I was shocked when the monitor shouted, “____!”
The entire class rose as I entered the room, and I was somewhat ______ about how to get them to sit down again, but once that awkwardness(尴尬) was over, I quickly regained my calmness and began what I thought was a fact-packed lecture, sure to gain their respect--- perhaps _____ their admiration. I went back to my office with the rosy glow which comes from a sense of achievement.
My students kept diaries. However, as I read them, the rosy glow was gradually replaced by a strong sense of sadness. I described the entire philosophical(哲学的) framework of Western thought and laid the historical _____ for all the works we’ll study in class.” I complained. “How should they say I didn’t teach them anything?”
It was a long term, and it gradually became clear that my ideas about education were not the same as those of my students. I thought a teacher’s job was to raise ____ questions and provide enough background so that students could draw their own conclusions.
