Fire can be very frightening, but don’t worry. If a fire starts in your home, stay calm. Having a plan could save your life.

Part 1

If you are woken up by the sound of your smoke alarm, remember:

STOP—THINK—ACT

♦ Stay calm. Wake up all of the members of your family.

♦ Find a way to the nearest exit. Never use the lift.

♦ If the door feels hot, DO NOT open it.

♦ When you are safe outside, call the fire service at once.

♦ Don’t go back to the house for any reason until the fireman tells you it is safe to return.

If you can’t find a way out, you must use the second part of the plan.

Part 2

If you have to go through a smoke-filled hallway or room, go down on all fours (四肢着地).

♦ Find a window that you can go through, and get all the family into the room.

♦ Always pass children down first.

♦ Remember—NEVER JUMP!

Practice your plan with your family at home. It could help to save your lives.
