The Advantages of Hobbies
Hobbies provide entertainment and a chance to continuously learn something new and develop a skill set. They also provide many other social and health benefits.
Hobbies are praised as a key to stress reduction. Becoming lost in the mental concentration or physical action which you are deeply interested in helps you shift focus from the parts of life that are stressful.1.And in turn you are more peaceful when working on other work.
2. Many people set goals with their hobbies that provide them satisfaction when these goals have been achieved These goals can be simple, like improving a golf score, writing a certain number of pages for a novel each day or seeing an entire collection of classic films.
Hobbies provide a sense of community when you meet other people who enjoy similar activities. Having a hobby increases the chances to interact with like-minded people.
More populated cities typically have numerous clubs or groups for people to share their knowledge and enthusiasm about a particular hobby. Becoming a member of one of these organizations allows greater growth within your hobby, as well as a chance to make new friends.
Having a hobby can develop a talent that makes a person feel proud and satisfied. For example, a tennis hobby developed at a young age can lead to a career as a professional athlete one day.3.For example, writer Vladimir Nabokov also collected butterflies, which allowed him to do better in his chosen fields because he used learned skills from one to improve the other.
A. There are a variety of hobbies
B Hobbies provide a sense of achievement
C. Some hobbies affect other aspects of your life

How to control embarrassing moments
Have you ever done something embarrassing? At that moment, you probably wished you could disappear into air. Good news? You can keep the damage to the minimum. Here’s some help.
1.
You are staring at a handsome boy so hard that you walk into a wall. You dropped all your books. The best thing you can do? If you’re not hurt seriously, laugh it off. Say like “Hey, I can teach you to do that if you want to!” By laughing at yourself, you show people you’re confident and still in control of the situation.
2.
Some situations are not suitable for laughing off. Your underwear falls out of your backpack. You pass gas while giving a speech. Making a joke would call more attention to what happened. What now? You can just pretend nothing happened and go on what you were doing, or you can say “Oh, that was awkward” and then move on.
3.
Some embarrassing situations may embarrass yourself and make someone else feel bad. You imitate (模仿) your teacher’s accent just as the teacher walks in. Making a joke or running away won’t make you look better. Instead, apologize, “I’m so sorry about that.” It may make things right again.
A. Apologize
B. Move on
C. Laugh it off
D. Run away

A. Relieve Pressure by Firmly Saying "No"
B. Separate Your Actions
C. Escape Now and Then
D. Stop Expecting Everything to Be Perfect
E. Slow Down Your Life
F. Allow Yourself to Be Weak
How to Simplify Your Life
Less is more. This is why we say: reduce things by half instead of doubling them, get rid of junk instead of piling it up, relax instead of stressing, slow down instead of speeding up. Apply these principles in your everyday life in a conscious way. You will then find yourself well along on your journey to simplification.
1.________
When you concentrate on one task, you find you have energy that you didn't even know you had. Just imagine: you are at a fair and you have to carry two heavy pigs over 100 yards. If you keep grabbing one and then the other, it will take forever, because one of them will keep slipping out from under your arm and running off. But if you tie one pig in a place, pick up the other, gather all your strength and make a dash for the finish line, pause for a moment, run back and get the other one, and with great determination, carry the second pig to the finish line, then you can be sure of success.
2.________
The pressure at work is on the increase in all occupations. In the modern nuclear family, the expectations that formerly would have been shared among all the relatives are now concentrated on the individual partner.
If you have the feeling that 24 hours per day are not enough for all the things you need to do, then it's not because the day has too few hours, but because you have too many activities. A simple fact that overloaded people often tend to forget. The solution is equally simple: refuse to accept so many work assignments in your private life or your working life.
3.________
"I can handle stress" is regarded as a positive statement in the world of work. People who can handle stress are given more and more to cope with — until one day they break.
Pay careful attention to the signs that tell you that you are under more stress than you can cope with. These signals came from various areas of life. You become ill, or your work efficiency decreases.
If you have any of these symptoms, change your life goals and decrease your tolerance of stress. Say quite openly, "I can't manage that."
4.________
"If only I were slimmer, more beautiful, richer, more clever, then I would be happier." This is a dream that makes a lot of people ill, depressed, and unhappy. Life has its flaws, defects, comets, and edges. Only those who accept this reality can lead a really full life.
Of course there are activities in which errors are dangerous; driving a car, crossing the road. But life doesn't consist entirely of these things. In among them there is a lot of room for small and large mistakes.
5.________
Successful people all have their own places where they can withdraw in order to work. Find out which places improve your creativity. For me it's the train. When I know that I'm going to be traveling for four hours without phone calls and people knocking on my door, I find my mind is free and I can read or write complex articles. There can be problems working on the train, of course: if the person sitting opposite you keeps talking away, or if train trips make you tired (some people fall asleep after a few miles).

How to Manage Your Time Effectively
It has been said that “Time is Money” – but I disagree. Isn’t Time really LIFE? At the end of your life, can you even imagine saying to yourself, “I wish I’d made more money.” It’s more likely you’d be thinking “I wish I’d had more TIME – time to enjoy my life more.” Here are my favorite strategies for managing that most precious of all resources – TIME.
1.____________
You can’t find something you’ve lost when you don’t know where you might have lost it in the first place. So keep track of the exact time you begin and end an activity, and write down a few words to describe the activity. This requires you to be really honest with yourself and track your time – so if you spent 23 minutes chatting with coworkers over coffee – write it down EXACTLY!
2.____________
Review your time logs(记录)and start to classify the tasks into categories(范畴). You will create these categories yourself. Some examples might be: Administration, Business Development, Sales & Marketing, Computer, etc. You will then sum up how much time you spent doing tasks or activities for each category, in the exact number of minutes. You might also do a little math, to figure the percentage of time each category takes out of each day.
3.____________
If you were honest and diligent, chances are that you had suddenly awakened after you reviewed your daily time logs. You no doubt can see where the time is wasted – and now you’re ready to make a better schedule. Make the best of your time by considering when you’re at your best for certain tasks, by grouping similar tasks together for greater efficiency, and by setting aside certain time for doing uninterrupted work. Think where different tasks can best fit into your day. Then actually write this routine down and post it where you see it every day.
4.____________
You can create your own easy tools to do this. On one sheet of paper, create 5 sections: High Priorities(优先), Secondary Priorities, People to Contact, Telephone calls, and Schedule. You can fill this out each day, first thing in the morning. Each day, ask yourself: “If nothing else gets done today, what are the one or two items that absolutely. MUST be done?” You should also regularly go back to the time logging exercise, so you can determine if you are slipping back into those old had habits and take immediate steps to get back on track.
5.____________
More often than not, we take on more than we should because we don’t want to hurt someone else’s feelings. When we burden ourselves too much, we are not only creating unnecessary stress in our lives, but we are also creating potential situations where we cannot deliver what we’ve promised. We also don’t realize that when we can’t deliver what we’re promised, we can unintentionally cause more pain than if we’d had turned that down in the first place, remember, you’re not doing any favors for yourself or anyone else by taking on more than you can reasonably deliver.

How to Learn a Foreign Language
1._____________
By far the most important factor is how much time you are immersed(专心的) in the language. The more time you spend with the language, the faster you will learn. This means listening, reading, writing, speaking, and studying words and phrases. This also means spending time enjoyably connected to the language you are learning.
2._____________
Listen wherever you are on your MP3 player. Read what you are listening to. Listen to and read things that you like, things that you can mostly understand, or even partly understand. If you keep listening and reading you will get used to the language. One hour of listening or reading is more effective than many hours of class time.
3._____________
Build up your vocabulary. Start to notice words and how they come together as phrases. Learn these words and phrases through your listening and reading. Read online, using online dictionaries, and make your own vocabulary lists for review. Soon you will learn many new words and phrases. Gradually you will be able to use them correctly.
4. _____________
Do not worry about what you cannot remember, or cannot yet understand, or cannot yet say. It does not matter. You are learning and improving. The language will gradually become clearer in your mind, but this will happen on a schedule that you cannot control. So sit back and enjoy.

A. Responding to emotions. B. Emotions and memory. C. Emotions and your brain. D. What emotions are. E. How good it feels to be understood! F. How we can be happy. |
1. |
Everyone feels happiness, surprise, fear, sadness and anger at some time—these are the basic emotions. It’s normal to have these feelings sometimes! There are over 600 words in English to describe them and we use the muscles(肌肉) in our faces to express them.
2. |
Emotions enable us to react to situations—for example, anger will set your heart racing, and feeling happy will make you smile. One of the key areas of your brain that deals with showing, recognizing, and controlling the body’s reaction to emotions is known as the limbic system (中枢边缘系统).
3. |
When remembering an emotional event, you recall not only what happened, but also how you felt. Both sorts of memory can be caused by something you heard, saw and even smelt, at the time. Scientists think that you store early emotional memories, even if you can’t remember what actually happened.
4. |
Taking the time to recognize, understand, and express how we feel is the right thing to do. When we are able to express our emotions properly, we think hand act in a better way. We have better relationships with our parents, family and friends. We understand ourselves, and others understand us. And it feels so good!
5. |
The way we feel affects our thoughts and actions, and it is impossible to separate our feelings from the things we think and do! Therefore, it is important to be aware of our feeling and to respond to them in the right way. Feelings like anger and fear are not our enemies! We should not keep them deep inside. Instead, we should understand them and direct them in the proper way.
