If you get a cellphone call, your sleeve(袖子) will soon be able to answer it. If you want to know how far you’ve run, your trousers will be able to tell you. Can’t decide what to wear? Wish your clothes were smart enough to decide for you? A new computer science technology may be able to help your clothing to do just that.
Mark Jones, a computer scientist, says, "We view electronic textiles (电子纺织品) as, sort of, where computing meets the fabric (编织品)."
This high-tech marriage is bringing up the wearable computers, like trousers that can interpret movement and let a computer know your every move.
A loom (织布机) helps make the wires and fabric together. Then special equipment in the fabric can measure the speed. Signals are then sent from the trousers to a computer to show the process.
Tom Martin also says, "E-textiles are a way for us to build wearable computers that look like normal clothing and can fit in fully with the environment."
Researchers also hope wearable computers will help save lives. "We will be able to tell what activity a person is doing. That sort of information is highly valuable when we’re trying to monitor someone with a long-term illness such as heart disease," Jones says. Monitoring your every step is something that clever clothing can do a little easier. Researchers plan on developing more smart clothes to integrate computers into shirts, hats and gloves.

A.The special equipment in the fabric used to measure the speed of our movement.
B.The unity(结合)of fabric and computing materials to make smart clothes.
C.Wearable computers which fit in with the environment.
D.The influence of electronics and computer science technology.
2.How will smart clothes be able to know the wearer’s every movement?
A.There are the wires and fabric together.
B.There are signals in the smart clothes.
C.The computer built into them will control their every movement.
D.The clothing will have special equipment fixed into the fabric.
3.The reason that people need smart clothes is that __________.
A.people are too lazy to decide what to wear
B.scientists want to prove their intelligence
C.smart clothes can provide information about the wearer’s health
D.smart clothes are as cheap as normal clothes
4.What is the best title for the passage?
A.Connecting Clothes with High Technology

Girls can easily get sad. If your friend is feeling blue and calls you, what will you do? Here are some tips on how you can make her smile again.
Listen to her. When people feel sad, they often have the feeling of needing to be heard. So, listen carefully to what she is saying and do nothing else. Your friend will surely thank you for being the shoulder she can cry on.
Once you are done with listening, you can offer some advice or remain silent and let her feel everything and let it all out by crying. As a friend, you might think you should give her some advice. But if you have no idea about what to say, just remain silent and be there for her.
In order to be able to help your friend in need, don’t be sad for yourself. How can you help your friend when you are also feeling down?
A hug can make a difference in the word. It makes you feel warm and special. A hug makes you feel safe. So give your friend a hug when she needs it the most.
Spend more time with your friend who wants to be happy. Do things together like washing dishes, cleaning, or going out for fun. The more time you spend together, the stronger your friendship will become.

Do you jump out of bed early, wide awake and ready to start your day?If so, you would be called an “early bird”. Perhaps, you hate the sound of your alarm clock each morning and have little energy until afternoon. If so, you're probably a “night owl”.
Most people can be divided into such two groups, but what makes us this way?And is one better than the other? There are different opinions.
Usually, early risers have been praised as hard-working while those who prefer to get up late are considered lazy. Most people believe the early bird catches the worm.
Yet some scientists now believe “night owls” can really focus(集中) longer and produce more than early risers.
Research has found that the early bird does not always get the worm. In a Belgian study, both “morning people” and “evening people” were watched during their normal asleep and awake routines(常规).After 10 hours of being awake, the “evening people” became more alert(思维敏捷的). However, the “morning people” became sleepy and less focused. Researchers believe the reason for this difference is that night owls receive a last-minute increase from their brains. This added energy allows them to stay alert for longer periods of time.
Environment, lifestyle, activities and childhood routines all may have an effect on sleeping habits, yet genetics(遗传学)may play the biggest role.
It is possible to change your sleeping habits through regular bedtimes, early exercise and by avoiding midnight snacks. But if you're happy rising early or staying up late, you're probably doing what works best for your own personal body clock.

The days of glancing at a map or the screen of your smart phone when you’re lost will soon be over, thanks to new shoes that tell you which way to turn to. The shoes use a Bluetooth link to communicate with your mobile’s mapping system. The mobile works out which route you should be following and the shoes then produce a slight shaking in either foot telling you when and where to change direction.
The shoes will also count the number of steps you’ve taken and the calories you’ve burned, and they’ll even buzz to warn you you’ve left your phone behind, or to tell you when you’re travelling past an interesting landmark.
“They are as easy to use as a tap on the shoulder,” said Krispian Lawrence, 30, who developed the shoes with partner Anirudh Sharma, 28, in Hyderabad, India. “You can even communicate with them using hand gestures and finger snaps because the shoes have sensors that can pick up movement and sound.”
The Lechal shoes go on sale worldwide in June but Lawrence and Sharma’s company, Ducere Technologies, has already taken more than 3,000 pre-orders. Lawrence believes the shoes will also improve road safety. “If I’m on my bike or motorbike, I don’t want to stare at my phone ---it’s dangerous,” he says. “I’d rather be guided by my footwear.” He believes his invention will prove invaluable for the visually impaired and has promised that every mainstream pair sold by Ducere will subsidize(资助) a cheaper pair for a visually damaged person.
Footnav technology does not impress explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes, however. “What’s wrong with a good old-fashioned map?” said the 70-year-old when told of the shoes. “If you rely too heavily on technology, you’re heading for trouble. Too many people have forgotten the basics: how to read a map and a compass.”

A. they can talk to people
B. they can produce a slight shaking
C. they are guided by a remote control
D. they are linked to mobiles’ mapping system
3.What’s the possible meaning of the underlined word “impaired”?
A. Discouraged. B. Disabled.
C. Disappointed. D. Disliked.
4.What is Sir Ranulph’s attitude towards this invention?
A. Positive B. Negative.
C. Disturbing. D. Confused.
