※When parents get angry, it isn't the time to get angry back. A lot of times they're not upset with you, but with their boss, the neighbor, or the price of vegetables. You just happen to be there at the wrong time. Look hurt? Get out of the way when they're in a bad mood. They need some time and space. Go outside, to a friend's house, or to your room. At last they will become calm and miss you. |
※If you have trouble talking to your parents, or if they get angry every time you try to discuss something, write a note. Put it on their bedside table. Parents are easily moved by notes like this and will probably keep them forever. |
※Do not create situations where there is a winner and a loser. You're the child and will probably lose most of the time. How many times have you grounded your mother or taken away the phone privileges(特权) from your dad? Try to compromise with each other and work out a situation where both of you win. |
※Ask your parents once a day, "Is there anything I can do for you?" Most of the time they will probably say no, or give you something that will take a few minutes to complete. Your parents will love this and see you as a very cooperative(可合作的) person. When this happens, they will probably be more cooperative with you. You could also surprise them by doing something they don't make you do. They'll tell everyone you are the best possible son or daughter and, what's more, they will believe it. ※Click for more information at the red icon on the left. |

At times we all get angry when we are driving. It might be because we are stuck in a traffic jam or behind a very slow driver. It might be because we think another driver has done something very stupid and dangerous. Whatever the reason is, it seems that getting angry in a car is something that happens more and more often and there is now a special term for it—road rage. Some experts even think it is a kind of mental illness! How can we recognize (识别) this “illness” of road rage?
There are two kinds of road rage: aggressive (侵略的) driving and aggressive reactions(反应) to the way other people are driving. Aggressive driving can take different forms:
●Driving much faster than the speed limit.
●Increasing your speed very quickly.
●Changing driving ways very suddenly and blocking another car.
●Moving into a parking space where another car is trying to park.
There are also different reactions to the way other people are driving. These include:
●Making rude signs at others.
●Shouting at others and threatening them.
●Driving into another person’s car on purpose.
●Hitting somebody.
Road rage is certainly not a joke. There have been incidents (严重事件) because of road rage which have led to serious injuries (重伤) and even deaths.
Experts think that one reason for road rage is that films show a lot of examples of fast and aggressive driving such as car chases. Experts also think that the punishments for dangerous driving are not serious enough. In the UK in the last 30 years, the police have been quite successful in reducing the number of people who drink and drive. They are now working to stop people using mobile phones when they are driving. Let’s hope they can have the same success with the road rage.

2.What’s “road rage” according to the passage?
A.A form of getting angry. B.A person who drives fast.

3.What’s the main idea of the last paragraph?
A.Aggressive driving is much worse than aggressive reactions.
B.Road rage can be controlled without any punishments for the drivers.
C.The accidents caused by using mobile phones have been reduced successfully.
D.The police will be able to do a lot to deal with road rage in the future.
4.What would be the best title for the passage?

Wonder why you can get angry so easily while your friend smiles all the time? It’s probably because you both have different personalities(个性).
Personality is also about how people think, behave, and react (反应) to everything around them from day to day.
So what makes people think and behave in certain ways?
Part of the reason is that people are born like this. A baby gets its blood type, genes (基因) and other physical things when it’s still inside its mother. These things may help decide what the baby will be like.
But one’s personality doesn’t stop here. Family life, school learning and life experiences can also make you the person you are. This doesn’t mean it’s impossible to change your personality. You can always try to make yourself better. Don’t get too worried about your shortcomings (缺点). Just accept them. This is a good way to start making changes.
If you don’t know how to make friends, find out why. Is it because you’re too shy? Tell yourself to smile at people. Start talking to people using warm greetings.
Don’t give yourself a hard time about it all. It’s not easy to change lifelong habits in one night. Keep working at it. One day you’ll see that you can turn over a new leaf and be a new you!
1.Personality is about the following except ________.
A.how you behave
B.what you look like

A.people are born the way they’ll always be
