It's dangerous to laugh when you are chewing gum (嚼口香糖) . You may choke (噎住) on the gum. This happened to Allyson Golden, a 12-year-old girl from the US. However, she was lucky because her friend Miriam Starobin saved her with something she learned from the cartoon Sponge Bob Squarepants (《海绵宝宝》).

What is a good excuse to ask for some time off ? At your school, sickness may be the only one. But in British schools, family events are also well-accepted ones. The National Association of Head Teachers in the UK has written new guidelines about students asking for leave.
