Twelve years ago, I learned an important life lesson in the back of a taxi in the New York City.

I got into a taxi and we drove to Grand Central Station. While we were d1.in the right lane ( 车道), a black car s2. jumped out of a parking space just in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes (猛踩 刹车), skidded (打滑) and missed the other car by several inches!
