Twelve years ago, I learned an important life lesson in the back of a taxi in the New York City.

I got into a taxi and we drove to Grand Central Station. While we were d1.in the right lane ( 车道), a black car s2. jumped out of a parking space just in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes (猛踩 刹车), skidded (打滑) and missed the other car by several inches! The driver of the other car, the guy who almost c3.a big accident, started saying bad words at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy.

I asked him. “W4. did you just do that? This guy almost hit your car and could have sent us to hospital !” He said, “Many people are like rubbish trucks(卡车). They run around full of r5.. They need a place to dump it. When someone wants to dump on you, just s 6., wave, wish them well, and move on. You’ll be happier if you do like that.”

I thought his words were very m7.. I couldn’t help a8.myself. “How often do I allow this kind of people to dump rubbish on me? And how often do I take their rubbish and spread it onto other people: at work, at home, on the streets?” On that day I realized. “ I’m not going to do it any more.”

S9.then, I have started to see people like rubbish trucks e10. And like my taxi driver, I just smile, wave, wish them well, and then I move on.
