The world’s first space travel
Have you ever dreamed of travelling in space like an astronaut? If your answer is “yes”, you will be happy to hear that the world’s first space hotel will welcome customers by 2022.
The space hotel plan was developed by a company in the US. It is named “Aurora Station”. The hotel will host six people at a time, including(包括) two crew members, for a 12-day trip of space travel. It will orbit(绕轨道而行) about 213,800 metres above the Earth and circle our blue planet every 90 minutes.
The station itself will be about 10 meters long and 4.2 metres wide, or about the size of a private jet. Guests in the hotel will be able to experience zero gravity, watch the sun rise 16 times per day, and take part in research experiments. They can also have video chats with their family and friends on the Earth.
Then how much does this amazing travel cost? It will be at an astronomical price--$9.5 million dollars. “We are selling the experience of being an astronaut,” said the company CEO. Potential(潜在的,可能的) guests will need to have a three-month training before going into space.
1.The world’s first space hotel will open by 2022, won’t it?
2.How many guests will the space hotel host at a time?
3.How large will the “Aurora Station” be?
4.How long will potential guests need to be trained before going into space?
5.Would you like to travel in space? Why or why not?

What is the sky?①This question is very difficult to answer. The sky is a space where there is nothing except the sun,the earth, the moon and all the stars.
Scientists can look at them through telescopes(望远镜) and,in this way, they can find out a great deal (许多,大量).They know many facts about the moon. For example, they know how big and how far away it is.②The moon is about 384,000 kilometers away from the earth.A plane cannot fly to the moon because there is no air.But a rocket can.
“How can a rocket fly?” If you want to know, get a balloon and then blow it up,until it is quite big.Do not tie up the neck of the balloon.Let it go!The balloon will fly off through the air very quickly. The air inside the balloon tries to get out through the neck of it,which pushes(推动)the balloon through the air.It does not need wings(翅膀)like a plane.③.Of course, the rocket is made of(由……制成) metal(金属).The metal must not be heavy but it must be very strong. There is a gas(气体) inside the rocket which is made very hot. When it rushes out of the rocket, the rocket is pushed up into the air.
1.将画线部分①改为同义句:
_________________________________________________________
2.将画线部分②译成汉语:
_________________________________________________________
3.从下面三个句子中选出一个,将其放回到画线部分③,使其上下文通顺合理。
A. This is what a rocket looks like
B. This is how a rocket works
C. This is why a rocket looks like a plane
4.请根据短文,判断正(T)误(F)。
In space there is only the sun,the earth and the moon.
5.请根据短文,判断正(T)误(F)。
The rocket can fly to the moon because it carries a gas inside it to push itself.

For people who are interested in space, nothing is more exciting than the idea of living on other planets. That might be why the movie The Martian is so popular. It shows an astronaut living on Mars. But would it really be possible to live on the Red Planet?
While the idea of living on Mars is great, the reality does not look as good. Mars does not have a friendly air for humans. There is very little oxygen(氧气) there. And because it's far from the sun, it is also very cold. The temperature on Mars can be 62 on average. This is much too cold for humans.
However, scientists say it might be possible to live there even without a good air. Daytime on Mars is almost the same as Earth's. It means there's enough sunlight to grow plants inside safe buildings. However, they would have to grow in soil from Earth. Mars does not have a strong enough air to stop the radiation(辐射) coming from space, which makes it dangerous to grow things in the soil.
The radiation also causes problems for our health. One way we could live there would be to build homes under ground or within the rocks on the planet. This would give humans the protection(保护) from the radiation and also some heat.
When could we live on Mars? NASA is hoping to make some progress within the next 20 years.
1.Which of the following about Mars is TRUE?
A. Its air is good for humans. B. It has enough oxygen on Mars.
C. It's a little colder than Earth. D. It's not close to the sun.
2.Why is it possible to grow plants on Mars?
A. Because there is enough sunlight.
B. Because the soil is good on Mars.
C. Because it has little oxygen there.
D. Because it has the strong radiation.
3.What's the passage mainly about?
A. How to grow plants on Mars.
B. How to live on Mars without danger.
C. How to keep warm on Mars.
D. How to improve the air on Mars.
