Dear Sherry,

I am very short. I want to be taller, I have tried jumping up and down and swimming, but none of these things have made me taller. My classmates laugh at me. I think my height is a serious problem. What should I do?

Yours

Mike

Dear Mike

To be honest, you can only do your best to exercise, eat well, sleep well and hope for the best. After all, how tall you can grow mostly depends on your genes (基因). I've been short for pretty much my whole life and a lot of people have made fun of me for it.

But the thing is, it doesn't really matter that much. I know it hurts when your classmates make fun of you, but this will happen less often as you grow up. There will always be some people who will judge(评判) you based on(基于) your height. But there isn't anything you can do to change their minds, And if someone thinks less of you because of your height. They’re probably not someone who is worth getting to know anyway. Love yourself for who you are— you're the only you there is.

Yours,

Sherry
