Traveling by subway can sometimes be quite "exciting", especially when the subway train is crowded. Sometimes you have to stay away from cups of coffee that could spill (洒出) on you. The smells of some passengers' food are strong, too.
The latest Beijing subway passenger rules allow only babies and the sick to eat or drink on the subway. Anyone who breaks the rules and doesn't stop eating and drinking must get off.
Some people agree, saying that the smell of food and drink can make other passengers unhappy or angry, especially in the hot summer. "On the one hand, the smell of food fills the whole subway, making people uncomfortable. On the other hand, eating on subway also creates rubbish," Zheng Yiou, a student from Hefei said.
However, others question this rule. "Some people live so far from their work places that they don't have enough time to have breakfast before they go to work. Eating while they travel saves them time," He Songlin, a student from Chengdu said. "And those people with low-blood sugar levels (血糖) will get sick if they can't eat when they must."
Other cities like Nanjing and Chengdu have similar rules. Some foreign cities don't allow eating and drinking on the subway. For example, eating and drinking have long been stopped on the subway in Washington DC. Singapore fines (罚款) people who eat or drink on the subway up to 500 Singapore dollars (2,417yuan).
Chen Yanyan, a professor (教授) from Beijing, believed we should consider the need of some people to eat or drink on the subway. "Passengers are sometimes too busy to eat. We could learn from Tokyo. It prepares special places in many subway stations, allowing passengers to eat and drink," she said.
1.According to the latest Beijing subway passenger rules, are all the passengers allowed to eat or drink on the subway?
____________________
2.Why do some passengers on the subway feel unhappy or angry in the hot summer?
____________________
3.How many reasons does the student from Chengdu give when he questions the subway rule?
____________________
4.How does Singapore stop people from eating on the subway?

5.What is Chen Yanyan's advice for the people who need to eat or drink while taking the subway?
