Do you want to know PE classes in other countries? In China, students must have PE tests both in middle school and high school. To get good grades on the PE tests, Chinese students will need to run and do sit-ups and pull-ups(引体向上). However, this is not the way that PE classes work in US high schools.
In US high school, we must take two semesters(学期)of PE. We play real sports during PE classes, such as basketball and volleyball. There are also kickball and dodgeball(躲避球) and some other special American sports. I didn’t know the rules of kickball and dodgeball when I first came to the US. The teacher let me sit on the sidelines and watch how other students played it in order to let me know the rules.
We also learn some useful life skills in PE. Last year, I learned how to do CPR(心肺复苏). We also learned how to provide first aid(急救)to someone. These skills are a large part of the final grade for the PE class in my high school. We also learn self-defense (自卫) in PE classes, such as tae kwon do(跆拳道), karate(空手道)skills and Chinese kung fu. It is helpful.
I prefer PE classes in the US to the ones in China. I think they are more fun and useful. What do you think?
1.What do we know about high school PE classes in the US?
A. Students must take three semesters of PE. B. Students don’t take it seriously.
C. Students play different sports in PE classes. D. They are the same as Chinese PE classes.
2.What should Chinese students do to get good grades on the PE tests?
A. Learn to provide first aid. B. Play kickball and dodgeball.
C. Learn tae kwon do. D. Run and do sit-ups and pull-ups.
3.The writer learned the rules of kickball and dodgeball through ______.
A. watching her teacher play B. watching others play
C. playing the sport herself D. watching online videos
4.Which of these things did the writer NOT learn about in PE classes?
A. How to play sports. B. How to do CPR.
C. How to get self-defense skills. D. How to treat sports injuries.
5.The story is mainly about ______.
A. the US PE classes B. the writer’s favorite sports
C. the PE test D. the Chinese PE classes

High school students in England do much the same as those in America or any other country do. They enjoy using the Internet, telephoning their friends, going travelling, listening to music, watching movies on TV or at the cinema.
However, a new study shows that 15-year-olds in England have more fights than those in Canada, Australia and China. This has to do with how they spend their free time. And in Australia, 15% of 15-year-olds spend their evenings out with their friends.
Another new study shows that the Internet is English students' favorite hobby. They spend about 31 hours a week online. One in four students of the 1,000 polled (接受民意测试的)said they often spoke to those they didn't know online and one in three said they tried to hide(藏)what they were looking at if a parent went into the room.
