For years I wanted a garden.I'd spend hours thinking of different things I could plant that would look nice together, but then we had Matthew, and Marvin. And the twins----Alisa and Alan, and then Helen.I was too busy raising them to grow a garden.
Money was tight, as well as time.Often when my children were little, one of them would want something that cost too much,I'd have to say,"Do you see a money tree outside?Money doesn't grow on trees, you know."
Finally, all the children got through high school and college and were off on their own.I started thinking again about a garden. Then, one spring morning,on Mother's Day,I was working in my kitchen. Suddenly,I looked out of the window and there was a new tree, planted right in my yard.I thought it must be a weeping willow(垂柳),because I saw things blowing around on all its branches. Then I put my glasses on and I couldn't believe what I saw.
There was a money tree in my yard! I went out to look.It was true! There were dollar bills, one hundred of them, hanging all over that tree. There was also a note among them,"Thank you for your time,Mom.We love you!"
Later,my children bought me tools, ornaments(装饰品),a sunflower stepping stone and gardening books. That was three years ago.My garden is now very pretty, just like I wanted. When I go out and take care of my flowers,I don't seem to miss my children as much as I once did.It feels like they're right there with me. I live up in a city, where winters are ling and cold, and summers are too short, but every year when winter sets in, I look out of my window and think of the flowers I'll see next spring in my little garden.I think about what my children did for me,and I get tears in my eyes-every time. I'm still not sure that money grows on trees. But I know love does!

After spending 40 hours playing the online game King of Glory, a 17-year-old boy had a stroke and nearly died. This happened in Guangzhou in April last year. It shows how bad things can get if one becomes addicted to the Internet.
Among China’s 772 million Internet users, about 151 million of them are between the ages of 10 and 19, according to China Internet Network Information Center. It is necessary for parents and school to educate children to use the Internet in a good way.
To stop more teenagers from becoming addicted to the Internet, the Ministry of Education(MOE)(教育部) sent a letter on April 20 to all parents in China. It calls on them to pay more attention(注意) to their children’s online activities. It is also advised that children should limit their screen time to less than 1.5 hours a day.In South Korea, there’s a law that stops children under the age of 16 from playing online games between midnight and 6 am.
The MOE also sent a notice to primary and middle schools, asking them to monitor(监督) students’ Internet use including smart phones. Internet is full of all kinds of information. Some is useful and proper for students, helping them know more about the world while others may not. Schools are told to teach students how to avoid unhealthy content, such as violence(暴力) or vulgar(粗俗的) languages.
MOE’s messages leave us to think about why some of our children choose to sit before the screen day and night instead of going out to breathe the fresh air. Maybe children should develop some healthy habits, like reading, playing sports and playing instruments. Also, it’s better to fill children’s weekends with family activities like doing housework together or visiting somewhere. The Internet can be part of children’s life but not everything.

A. 更改 B. 查阅 C. 避免 D. 沉溺
