So the king went across to the small house and knocked. The poor man opened the little door and let the traveler come in. The poor man's wife welcomed him, then she cooked some potatoes and carrots. The king sat down with the man and his wife, and he enjoyed their food very much. When they finished the supper and it was bed-time, the woman asked the king to have a sleep at their home. The next day the king gave a lot of money to the poor man and thanked him a lot.
