Do you know about bio-plastic(生物塑料)?It is a kind of plastic. but it is not the same as normal plastic. Normal plastic is made from chemical materials and takes a very long time to degrade(降解). But bio-plastic is good for the environment. it is made by using bacteria(细菌) to process(加工)natural sources like vegetable oils, corn or sugar. It can degrade more easily.
But there is a problem with bio-plastic. The "food" that bacteria eat is what we eat. This means that bacteria are competing against humans for the same resources.
Now scientists have found a new way to make bio-plastic-using two kinds of bacteria and sunlight. According to Newsweek.
One of the bacteria can use sunlight to produce sugar. The other land eats the sugar and produces polymers(聚合物). Polymers are used to create bio-plastics. The way the bacteria store polymers is similar as humans store fats.
The new way to produce bio-plastic has many advantages. It is 20 times faster than the normal way we produce bio-plastic. Moreover, using these two bacteria saves resources.
The next problem scientists face is that they want to put their tab research into real-world practice. By doing this, bio-plastic made with these two bacteria can be widely produced in the future.

If you have heard of Leonardo Da Vinci, you must know something about the Mona Lisa. Maybe it is the most famous painting in the world.
Da Vinci himself loved it so much that he always carried it with him, until it was sold to France's King Francis I in 1519. In 1911, the painting was stolen from the Louvre by former employee, who took it out of the museum hidden under his coat. He said he planned to return it to Italy. The painting was sent back to France two years later. During World War II, French hid the painting in small towns to keep it out of the hands of German forces. Nowadays we can still enjoy the beautiful painting in the Louvre Museum.
However, the health of the famous picture is getting worse by the year, according to the Louvre Museum where it is housed. The museum said, “Visitors have noticed changes but repairing the world's, most famous painting is not easy. Experts are not sure about the materials the Italian artist used and their modern chemical state(情形).”
Nearly 6 million people go to see the Mona Lisa every year, many are attracted by the mystery(秘密) of her smile. “It is very interesting that when you're not looking at her, she seems to be smiling, and then you look at her and she stops,” said Professor Margaret Livingstone of Harvard University. “It's because direct vision is excellent at picking up detail, but less suited to looking at shadows. Do you want to know anything about my staying in America? Well, let me tell you the truth, it is really an eye-opening experience to study here.
In China, I have had English classes five times a week since the fifth grade. However, I didn't know textbook English was very different from everyday English until I came to Hotchkiss School, Connecticut.
When I first studied English, I was told to say “I am fine.” when people say “How are you?” But in the US, I found that people say “I am good.” or “I am tired.”
One day, someone greeted me with “What's up?” It made me confused. I thought for a moment and then smiled because I didn't know what to say.
Since then, I have discovered more and more differences between Chinese and the US cultures. To my surprise, the US girls spend a lot of time in burning sun getting a tan(晒黑). However, in China, girls try every possible way to get their skin paler(白的).
I am also surprised by how hard-working the US students are. In China, schoolwork is almost everything, so we study hard all the time. But here, an “excellent” student gets good grades, does a lot for the public and plays sports or music. The kids here are so talented. I am starting to be sorry that I gave up playing the piano at an early age and that I have never thought about sports.
1.How often did the writer have an English class in Grade Five?
A. Four times a week. B. Five times a week.

3.A good US student spends his/her time________.
A. only in doing homework
B. only on sports or music
C. on studies, sports or music and public work

A. My Own Travel in the US B. My Study in the US
