China held an opening ceremony for the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge on Tuesday, October 23rd 2018.
The bridge construction began in December 2009 and was completed in May 2018.It is the longest underwater tube tunnel in the world and the longest bridge crossing tunnel in the world.
The Hong Kong-Zhuhai- Macao Bridge is the first route to connect the three cities in its title The Y-shaped bridge will cut travel time between Hong Kong and Zhuhai from three hours to just 30 minutes.This will significantly reduce the cost and journey time of travel between the mainland and Hong Kong, speed up economic development and links between cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao-Dawan region.
It should be noted that the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge adopts(采用 )the right-hand traffic rules of the mainland, before changing to left -hand drive upon arrival at the ports of Hong Kong or Macao.
There are toll booths in Zhuhai and Macao, where all vehicles will be subject to a fee.The booth has 20 lanes, which accept automatic payment through etc or Hong Kong express.Travelers can also pay using Alipay, WeChat and cash in RMB.
