Speaking in an interview, Naveen Jain, founder of a space exploration company called Moon Express, said that he believes moon travel is just a decade away. And his company, which is the first private firm to get approval from the U.S. government to carry out the project of moon travel, wants to play a role in helping people get to the moon surface.
''I believe in the next ten years, there is going to be gentlemen on their knees asking their sweethearts, honey, will you go to the moon with me for honey moon?'' Jain said in the interview.
Many people in the technology and scientific communities are crazy about space exploration. Space presents an unprecedented(史无前例的)number of chances for scientific and human advancement. Companies, big and small, are determining how they can create technologies that would allow people to explore space, the moon, and even Mars. Other companies are eyeing ways to play a role in space travel.
The key of that gold rush has been the declining cost of actually getting to space. Jain said that while it once cost billions of dollars to go to the moon, his company's unmanned space flight next year will cost just 7 million. As costs continue to decline(减少),he believes that within the next decade, getting to the moon will cost just $10,000.Better yet, it'll take just four hours to get there.
Still, Mars is the final prize. And even Jain, whose company will focus on moon travel, said that ''Mars is certainly the right place to be finally. '' When asked if he'd like to stage space fights to Mars, Jain said ''of course'', adding that he believes Moon Express could partner with Elon Musk's SpaceX to make that happen.
''Elon will build the rocket and we do the travelers,'' Jain said of a theoretical partnership. ''Generally, he lays the cables and we do the last mile.''
SpaceX and Musk have not said whether they would work alongside Jain and Moon Express. Either way, it looks like hopping from the moon to Mars (and back) might be just a part of our lives.
1.We can learn about moon travel from the passage that
A.it will take less time and money

2.What does the author mean by saying ''Mars is the final prize''?

C.Mars is the first destination to choose for space travelers.
D.Mars is the last destination to choose for space travelers.

A.Moon Express is certainly an ideal partner for SpaceX.
B.SpaceX hasn't decided to cooperate with Moon Express.

In many parts of the world, cars play an important role in daily life and many societies would not exist without them.So the idea that in 20 years’ time, no one will own cars may be hard to believe. But this is the prediction made by a team of transport researchers who are taken seriously, not only by government but also by ear manufacturers.
The Human Science and Advanced Technology Institute at Loughborough in the UK is part of an international research program. The team there believes that by 2020 all cars will be computerized, which will mean much saving,no accidents and better use of roads. The superintelligent car of the 21st century will drive itself, and it will not be owned by one individual.Instead,we will have a choice of cars and change them as frequently as we change our clothing.
According to Dr.David Davis, who leads the research team, these predictions are based on the rising cost of the car culture, which had blocked up our cities, polluted our air, and caused more deaths than both world wars put together.
Davis says, cars will be fitted with some intelligent devices to regulate the distance between one car and another. The car will automatically speed up,or slow down,to match the speed of the car in front.Computers are much safer drivers than people,so cars in a road train will be able to drive much closer together than cars driven by people.
By 2010,Dr.David Davis believes, car technology will give motorists a clear view of the road, whatever the weather conditions,by projecting an image of the road ahead on to the car’s windscreen. And by 2020,cars will travel in_convoy,_linked to each other electronically.Cars will be connected by an electronic tow bar to the car in front to form “roadtrains”.“The front vehicle in such a train burns the normal amount.”says Davis.“But all the others in the train would burn about ten percent of the normal amount, and so produce about ten percent of the pollution.”
1.Which of the following will be the characteristic of the cars of 2020?
A. The car will speed up out of control.
B. We will own as many cars as we want.
C. All cars will be driven by computers.
D. Cars will produce more pollution than present ones.
2.The leader of the research team believes that the present car culture will change because________.
A. cars play a very important role in daily life
B. many societies would stop functioning without cars
C. cars should not be owned by one individual
D. it causes many deaths to human society
3.The expression closest in meaning to the phrase “in convoy” in the last paragraph is________.
A. in line B. sidelong
C. side by side D. shoulder to shoulder
4.What will happen if cars are joined to each other electro- nically in 2020?
A. Motorists will get a clear view of the road.
B. There will be less pollution caused by car.

D. All trains will bum less fuel than present.

1. ________
In 1973, Jimmy Carter, ex-president of the United States, saw a UFO—an Unidentified Flying Object. There were about 20 other people with him at the time, and they all watched the strange object for several minutes.
2. ________
Does this surprise you? It’s not unusual. About 15 million people all over the world think that they have seen a UFO, a recent report says.
3._______
UFOs have become very popular. There are books and films about UFOs, we can watch imaginary flying saucers and visitors from space on television, and there are stories in the newspapers about strange objects. Some of the stories are very silly. Clearly, some of these “UFOs” were aircraft, birds, the moon, lights on the clouds, and so on. But some people believe that spaceships come from other planets, and some of the reports aren’t easy to explain.
4. ______
In 1947 an American businessman was flying his own plane during the day. Mr. Arnold was a sensible man and a pilot with many years’ experience. That day, he saw a row of strange flying objects. He could see them clearly, and he watched them for some time. Later he said that they moved “like saucers over water.” The name “flying saucer” was invented. The newspapers loved the story, of course, and they all wrote long reports about it.
5. ______
During World War II, pilots had reported strange round flying objects. Sometimes these objects flew beside their planes and followed them. At first, the pilots were afraid: they thought these objects were a new weapon. But the “weapon” didn’t harm them. The officers said the pilots were imaging things. The pilots got used to the strange objects.
