A three-year independent investigation into the September 11, 2001 attack on the Pentagon has yielded new eyewitness evidence which, according to the Southern California-based researchers who conducted the investigation conclusively (and unfortunately), establishes as a historical fact that the violence which took place in Arlington that day was not the result of a surprise attack by suicide hijackers, but rather a military black operation involving a carefully planned and skillfully executed deception."
A CNN Reporter at the scene states that there is no evidence that a 757 hit the Pentagon.
What hit the Pentagon? A Boeing 757 loaded with passengers and fuel right? Who was on Flight 757? According to the Flight Information there were No Arabs on it. That makes me wonder if Flight 757 actually existed at all.
From the pictures and the videos, people can find that there are several doubtful points that need to be taken into consideration, for example the marker line on the grass in the satellite and ground pictures, the different colors of the smoke, the hole which the plane impacted, and the standing pylons (架线塔).
Also, from the comparison of the different pictures, people can find some other strange points. For example, the gear (齿轮) is not the matching one. The wreckage of the plane is not the one from the American Airlines. The glass on the pavement of the pole is another doubtful point. The last thing that need considering is about the collapse. One of the gif video shows the plane impacting the Pentagon. The only problem with this video footage is that it has been altered (改变) and can not be fully trusted.
These crash photos and videos shown here clearly have been doctored (篡改) and don't even match the physics of what happened. So where is the real video? It leaves me many questions. Is this a missile? It is a real enigma.
1.Where can you possibly read this article?
A.In a newspaper. | B.In a book. | C.On a website. | D.In a magazine. |
2.What the word “yielded” mean in the first sentence?
A.given in | B.surrendered | C.given away | D.produced |
3.Which of the following doubtful points is not mentioned in the passage?

An entire industry has been built upon the assumption that image is everything, but when it comes to it, an appealing image is not enough. If there is no substance(事实)behind the image, the product, service or person will fail eventually.
First of all, one should consider how important image is in the selling of products and services.Advertising agencies have raised the art of creating an image to a state of near perfection.Public concept of that product or service is certainly managed by the images created by the advertising agencies. But if the product or service does not live up to the image that was created, the customer will be very dissatisfied and possibly ask for their money back. For example, the Arthur Andersen accounting firm had spent decades building up an image of trustworthiness. But the recent scandal(丑闻)showed that behind that image, it cheated in business practices.Despite the previous positive image, the firm is being accused of criminal actions and it will probably not survive as a business unit.Although the image had been nearly perfect, the reality, behind the image has led to the downfall of the word-famous accounting firm.
Similarly, personal advisers can build up a public image for politicians and movie stars.Putting out positive news releases, making sure that only the best photographs are published, and ensuring that the person is seen in all the right places can build up a very positive image in the view of the general commons. But once again, history is filled with examples of both politicians and movie stars that fell from grace like the story of the Hollywood actor giving in to the pressures of fame and fortune. With people, just as with products and services, image is certainly important, but without positive substance behind the image, failure is close.
To summarize, it is clear that an appealing image is extremely important to success, whether that image is related to selling a product or service or to the “selling” of a person. But image is only half of the equation(等式).What lies behind that image is every bit as important as the image itself—the person or product must deliver truth on that image or there is little chance for long-term success.
1.The down fall of the Arthur Andersen accounting firm is due to ________.
A.its previous images. B.its dishonesty in business.
C.its bad management. D.its poor service.
2.Why did some famous people fall from grace?
A.They failed to live up to their images.
B.Their images were not well built up.
C.They felt much pressure from the public.
D.They paid little attention to fame and fortune.
3.The structure of the passage is _________.
A:Argument P:Point C.Conclusion
4.The author tries to argue that ________.
A.image creates everything.
B.image is the key to success.
C.truth is unlikely ever to be equaled.
D.truth and image are equally important.

The entire global population of marbled crayfish (龙纹虾) has been traced to a single female held in a German aquarium (水族馆), which was born with the ability to reproduce without males. Every marbled crayfish is female, and every egg laid is an exact clone of its mother. The ability to reproduce quickly with such ease made them popular in the aquarium trade, but when they found their way into the wild, the crayfish got out of control.
The first known marbled crayfish appeared in 1995. Since then, they have spread into the wild and populated in freshwater ecosystems around the world. Scientists studying this animal have raised the alarm about its likely influence on local wildlife, ecosystems and agriculture as it spreads into new environments. Successful non-native species like the marbled crayfish often cause trouble when they arrive in new environments, as they can feed on local wildlife or compete with it for resources.
According to Dr Frank Lyko, a researcher at the German Cancer Research Centre, the first marbled crayfish appeared due to a sudden change in its parents’ cells. It was an animal that reproduces clonally and therefore represents a model of a central aspect in tumor (肿瘤) development.
“Tumor genomes (基因组) also develop clonally, because they go back to a single original cell,” he said. However, both crayfish and tumors are still able to adapt to their environments through a process termed “clonal evolution”, and in both cases this can be harmful. In crayfish, their ability to adapt means they can spread to a variety of different environments and climates, and in tumors this means they can develop resistance (抵抗) against cancer-targeting drugs.
At present, with the potential influence of the increasing marbled crayfish on local places, governments from different places are working on controlling their population.
1.What does the text say about marbled crayfish in the wild?
A.They prove popular. B.They are under control.
C.They can be troublesome. D.They are out of condition.
2.What does Dr Frank Lyko try to explain?
A.The reason for marbled crayfish’s clonal reproduction.
B.The similarities between marbled crayfish and tumors.
C.The way to stop marbled crayfish cloning themselves.
D.The harmful influence marbled crayfish have on health.
3.What are governments doing about marbled crayfish now?
A.Working on removing all of them. B.Trying to limit the quantity of them.
C.Taking control of them with drugs. D.Connecting them with harmful tumors.
4.What can be a suitable title for the text?
A.Why Marbled Crayfish Reproduce Rapidly
B.The Population of Marbled Crayfish Is Huge
C.The Spread of Marbled Crayfish Is Worrying
D.How to Control the Number of Marbled Crayfish

In recent years, there has been a steady attack on salt from the doctors: salt is bad for you—regardless of your health. Politicians also got aboard. “There is a direct relationship,” US Congressman Neal Smith said, “between the amount of sodium(钠) a person consumes and heart disease, circulatory(循环的) disorders, stroke and even early death.”
Frightening, if true! But many doctors and medical researchers are now beginning to feel the salt scare has gone too far. “All these remarks and cry about salt is unnecessary,” Dr. Dustan insists. “For most of us it probably does not make much difference how much salt we eat.” Dustan’s most recent short-term study of 150 people showed that those with normal blood pressure experienced no change at all when placed on an extremely low-salt diet, or later when salt was reintroduced. Of the hypertensive(高血压的) patients, however, half of those on the low-salt diet did experience a drop in blood pressure, which returned to previous level when salt was reintroduced.
“An adequate to somewhat excessive(过度的) salt intake has probably saved many more lives than it has cost in the general population,” said Dr. John H Laragh. “So an opinion that the whole population should avoid salt makes no sense.”
Medical experts agree that everyone should practice reasonable “moderation”(节制) in salt consumption. For the average person, a moderate amount might run from four to ten grams a day, or roughly 1/2 to 1/3 teaspoons. One to two grams of salt would come from the natural sodium in food. The rest would be added in processing, preparation or at the table.
“Na is not your enemy,” says Comek’s Dr. Laragh. “Salt is the No.1 natural component of all human tissue, and the idea that you do not need it is wrong. Unless your doctor has proven that you have a salt-related health problem, there is no reason to give it up.”
1.Why is salt attacked by doctors and politicians?
A. It’s unnecessary.
B. It does no good to human health.
C. It is hated by most people.
D. It will always lead to heart disease and circulatory disorders.
2.From Dr. Dustan’s study in Paragraph 2 we can infer that _____.
A.a low-salt diet may be good to some patients
B.the amount of salt intake has nothing to do with one’s blood pressure
C.the reduction of salt intake can completely cure a hypertensive patient
D.an extremely low-salt diet makes no difference to anyone
3.In the 3rd paragraph, Dr. Laragh implied that _____.
A.people should not be afraid of taking much excessive salt
B.doctors should not advise people to avoid salt
C.an adequate to somewhat excessive salt intake is suggested to ill people
D.excessive salt intake has killed some patients in the general population
4.What is the experts’ advice for average people on salt consumption?
A.They should increase salt intake through sodium pills.
B.They should avoid salt as often as possible.
C.They should consume 1/2 to 1/3 teaspoons of salt a day.
D.They needn’t care about how much salt they consume.
5.What is the main idea of the passage?
A.The salt scare is not reasonable.
B.The cause of hypertension is disclosed.
C.The moderate use of salt is recommended.
D.Salt consumption is to be avoided.
