Is that person really glad to see me? Or is he just being polite? Some people struggle to tell an artificial smile from a truly happy-one. And computers have found this task even more difficult. Recently, researchers have trained a program to detect when a smile is genuine(真诚的).
Visual computing researchers at the University of Bradford in the U. K. started with a software for analyzing a changing facial expression. This program can examine a video clip of a human head and identify(确认) specific details around the eyes, cheeks and mouth. Then the program tracks the details relative to each other as the face smiles.
Next, the scientists had their program evaluate(评估)two sets of video clips. In one subjects performed posed smiles. In the other, they watched a film that inspired genuine displays of emotion. The program calculated the differences among the subjects’ faces during the two clips. And it turns out that one's mouth, cheeks and eyes move differently when pretending to smile.
In particular, the muscles around the eyes shift 10 percent more for a real smile than they do for a fake one. These results are in the journal Advanced Engineering Informatics. "A genuine smile is indeed in the eyes. The computer aids analysis of the exact weight distribution of human smiles across the face.” Hassan Ugail and Ahmad Al-dahoud say.
The researchers suggest their work could improve a computer's ability to analyze facial expressions and thus to interact more smoothly with humans. But their real accomplishment is in proving Tyra Banks right: "You have to smile with your eyes."
1.What's the purpose of the program?
A.To tell different smiles. B.To detect human heads.
C.To examine human faces. D.To record facial expressions.
2.What did the researchers do in the program?

Many experiments have shown that just about every poor reader can improve his reading ability. In these experiments, the poor readers were given tests of reading ability. After some of the causes of their poor reading were discovered, they were given special instruction and practice in reading. After a few months, another test of the same kind was given. In nearly all cases, these people had raised their reading scores.

Here comes a great new book. It has claimed that people can lose weight by eating anything they want, but only during a set eight-hour period. The 8-Hour Diet: Watch the Pounds Disappear Without Watching What You Eat! is co-written by David Zinczen and Peter Moore.
They argue that staying up late and eating around the clock is responsible for the high rates of diabetes (糖尿病) and obesity. Our bodies can’t process the food we eat after these hours. These calories end up where they shouldn’t, around our bellies and butts (臀部). The book claims we can lose ten pounds in a week and up to 20 pounds in six weeks, and asks that we choose any eight-hour window for eating, such as 9 am to 5 pm or 11 am to 7 pm.
Staying up and eating late may be the cause of diabetes. Simply, limiting food intake to 8 hours gives people all the benefits—without having to worry about food intake.
In the simplest terms, the 8-hour diet is a way of extending the period between our last snack and our breakfast, giving our body the chance to burn away our fat stores for the energy it needs.
Restricting (限定) the time period during which we eat makes our body burn more calories in the day. So the longer we eat, the lazier our metabolism (新陈代谢) becomes. However, if we fit food intake into an eight-hour window, our body burns more calories day and night as well as preventing diseases, such as diabetes and heart diseases.
1.According to the book, people should ______.
A. eat as little as possible B. develop an 8-hour diet
C. eat as slowly as possible D. have more than three meals a day
2.If you eat breakfast at 8 am, you had better eat your last meal at ______.
A. 4 pm B. 6 pm

3.The underlined sentence may mean ______.

B. if we take in food for eight hours
C. if we limit the food we eat to certain types
D. if we eat food within an eight-hour period

Researchers at the University of Kansas say that people can accurately judge 90 percent of a stranger's personality simply by looking at the person's shoes. “Shoes convey useful information about their wearers”, the authors wrote in the new study published in the Journal of Research in Personality.
Lead researcher Omri Gillath said the judgments were based on the style, cost, color and condition of someone's shoes. In the study, 63 University of Kansas researchers looked at pictures showing 208 different pairs of shoes worn by the study's participants. Volunteers in the study were photographed in their most commonly worn shoes, and then filled out a personality questionnaire.
Some of the results were expected: People with higher incomes most commonly wore expensive shoes, and flashier shoes were typically worn by outgoing people. However, some of the more specific results are strange enough. For example, “practical and functional ''shoes were generally worn by more “pleasant" people, while ankle boots were more linked with “aggressive” personalities. The strangest of all may be that those who wore “uncomfortable looking” shoes tend to have “calm” personalities. And if you have several pairs of new shoes or take extreme care of them, you may suffer from “attachment anxiety", spending lots of time worrying about what other people think of your appearance. There was even a political calculation in the mix with more liberal (主张变革的) types wearing “shabbier and less expensive” shoes.
The researchers noted that some people will choose shoe styles to mask their actual personalities, but researchers noted that volunteers were also likely to be unaware that their footwear choices were showing the deep side of their personalities.

A.Shoes Call hide people's real personalities.
B.Shoes convey false information about the wearer.

A.Wealthy people often wear expensive shoes.
B.Pleasant people like wearing uncomfortable shoes.

3.People suffering from “attachment anxiety” tend to
A.wear strange shoes B.worry about their appearance
C.have a calm character D.become a political leader
4.The author wrote the text in order to
