Hello, children and parents.
Thank you all for coming to the meeting. I’d like to start by confirming (保证) that we will receive some money from the government for our school trip to Indonesia. We will receive about $1,300 per child, which will reduce the whole cost to you.
Now that we are sure to get the money, it is time to do some serious planning. We are sure that the trip will be very exciting for the children, especially if they have not traveled abroad before. There are many advantages(优点) of having some experiences to different places and cultures. Your children will be able to learn a lot about other people and cultures on this trip.
Leanne is with us tonight. Leanne, where are you? Put up your hand so that the people can see who you are. Thank you. Leanne went on a trip there with some other students last year and will be happy to tell you of her experiences and answer any questions you might have. We will hear from her a bit later in the meeting.
We only have five months to organize the trip. From past experience I can tell you that this time will go very quickly. So we need to start organizing the trip.
This is the agenda (议程) for this evening’s meeting:
Passports: when and how to apply for one.
Health matters: what precautions (预防措施) you need to take, plus any special needs that your child may have.
Studying: what kind of the school and type of lessons your child will attend.
Money: paying for the trip, plus how much money your child should take.
Hotel: where we will be staying clothing and personal items that your children should take with them.

Tips for Procrastinators (拖延者)
You manage to finish and hand the project in on time, but you feel exhausted. Then, your teacher says, “Get ready. We will start the test in 5 minutes.” 1.
Many of us are guilty of delaying doing what we should do. At the same time, we might risk missing a deadline and not getting a good mark. It is also very stressful. Here are some tips for procrastinators on how to get your work done ahead of time.
Create a to-do list. Creating a list will help organize your work and ideas while keeping you on track. 2. Keep it up to date by checking off completed tasks as you go along. This will keep you focused and orderly.
3. Chances are, you won’t be able to get a lot of work done when you’re tired. Finding a time of day when you are full of energy will get you to be more productive.
Choose reliable study partners. Working with study partners will encourage you to complete the task at hand and ensure that you remain focused. 4.
Divide the work into smaller parts. Procrastination is often a reaction to feeling overwhelmed (无法对付的). Dividing work into smaller parts will make it easy to handle. 5. You will find your ability and be more likely to finish what you need to do.
Hopefully these tips will help you do away with the stressful, last-minute efforts of a procrastinator.
A. Work when you’re feeling energetic.
B. Remind yourself to turn off all the devices.
C. You forgot that there’s also an examination today.
D. Try to encourage yourself to stick to your work plan.
E. Deal with your tasks a bit at a time instead of wasting time wondering where to start.
F. Put the tasks that you feel less confident about or are likely to avoid on the top of the list.
G. You know that others are relying on you and they think that you deserve trust and are responsible.

By the time a student starts to apply (申请) for a US university, much of his or her record, including grades and after-school activities, has been set in stone. For this reason, the student must in his or her first year of high school start getting ready for college. He or she also has to decide on the non-academic (非学业的) tasks, which are important to improve the student’s chances of getting in.
1. After-school activities
When it comes to high school activities, quality is better than quantity (数量). Admissions (录取) officers do not want to see a student who has joined dozens of organizations (组织) for a short period of time.
Many students try to do this towards the end of their high school. But schools want to see a student who has been with one organization for all or most of high school. A student who can do this shows maturity (成熟). It is the quality that admissions officers look for as it is one of the markers of future success.
2. Leadership
Schools want to see a student who has taken on a leadership role in an organization. A student can show leadership by taking on any role that needs extra commitment (奉献) and responsibility.
If you do not have a great title (头衔) such as president, be sure to explain any leadership roles you have taken. This kind of involvement (参与) in school activities shows you are the responsible person that admissions officers look for.
3. Consistency (一致性)
Admissions officers like an application (申请) to be consistent. For example if there is a high school activity you particularly (特别地) love, it would help if that activity matches your future academic and career interest.
Of course not everything needs to be consistent. Otherwise (否则) the student would be narrow and this is not what schools are looking for. However, you cannot have different parts of your application saying conflicting (矛盾的) things.

B. start planning for college at the beginning of high school

A. Students should choose after-school activities they have great interest in.
B. It’s already too late for first year students to apply for a US university.
C. It is necessary for a student to be a president if he/she is to apply for a US university.
