The trouble started when Mrs Candy lost control of her car on a mountain road. Her car fell off the mountain into the water forty feet from the road. It rolled over twice and landed left side up in the rushing water. Mrs Candy and her two sons, were wearing their seatbelts and thick coats. So they were stuck (不能动). Nobody was hurt by the fall; however, they couldn't leave the car.

The rescue work started almost at once. Another driver told the police about the trouble. And the police called some rescue workers and a truck to pull the car out. The driver of the truck, Simon, arrived first. Immediately he took a rope from his truck and began to walk in the rushing water to the car. Then he caught hold of the rope. He went under the water by the car.

Mrs Candy saw him and pulled him as hard as she could and brought him to the car door. Then the other rescue workers arrived. They put on special suits to stay warm.
