What is the easiest way to stay warm in the super cold?1.. At least that is what Santa Claus told me.
During Christmas, Dennis and I went to Finland. We brought back some tips for keeping warm in a cold temperature.
1. There layers(层)work wonders.
Start with the base layer, which sits right on your skin: choose something that can absorb sweat. 2.. A sweater is a good choice. The most important layer is the outer clothes, which should be waterproof(防水的)and windproof.

You lose heat from every millimeter of uncovered skin, which was the biggest lesson I learned on this trip. My whole body was well covered. But I missed one sport: my face. So it often felt like the wind was going to blow my nose off.
3. Exercise, don’t just stand still.
When it’s cold, exercising may be the last thing you feel like doing, but be smart.4., and you will feel the difference. When we first got to Finland, we were freezing. But after a couple of minutes jumping around, we felt less cold.
4. If you have a heater
You may want to turn it all the way up, but it’s best to keep it at between 18 and 20 degrees.5., but not create a huge difference between inside and outside.
A. Grow a crazy beard.
B. The key is what your layer is
C. Cover every bit of your skin
D. That will keep you comfortable
E. Take a walk, faster than your normal speed
F. Don’t forget to keep your hands and feet warm, too
G. The middle layer keeps your body heat from getting away

One of the easiest ways to stop the spread of disease is to simply wash your hands. Twenty seconds of handwashing with soap and water can reduce illnesses and save lives. But, many people, especially children, do not have good handwashing habits. One problem is that children do not wash their hands often enough or long enough. Children may think that it is a tiresome thing to do.
To help handle this problem, two businesswomen from India created a product to turn handwashing into a fun activity. Amanat Anand and Shubham Issar created a tool called SoaPen, aimed at teaching kids good handwashing habits and encouraging kids to wash their hands with soap appropriately and regularly.
“It's such a simple habit to do, but the fact is that people aren't doing it, and it's resulting in actual deaths-which is shocking. So, we decided to come up with a fun method,” said Issar.
As the name suggests, SoaPen is a pen made out of soap. The children draw on their hands with the soap pen and then wash the drawing off. If they don’t spend enough time washing it off, the colors remain on the children’s hands. Issar said it makes sure that children take enough time to wash their hands. This may be especially helpful in a classroom. Often a teacher does not have the time to make each child wash his hands properly.
Kids actually wash their hands for the proper amount of time because they're drawing on their hands. To obliterate the drawing, they actually wash their hands instead of just going under water and, you know, a one-second wash and off.
Good news is that the school children in Mumbai, India, will soon most likely wash their hands after handling a pet. Issar and Anand stated that SoaPen to be created everywhere will help promote good habits through handwashing in the city across the globe.
1.Why does SoaPen come into existence?
A.To cure kids of some kinds of diseases.
B.To teach kids the importance of soap.
C.To help kids wash their hands correctly.
D.To make money from children consumers.
2.Which of the following does Issar agree with?
A.Handwashing is anything but little.
B.SoaPen is designed for classrooms.
C.Some teachers ignore kids’ health in school.
D.Kids don't know the right way of handwashing.
3.What does “obliterate” underlined in paragraph 5 mean?
A.Show. B.Reserve.
C.Learn D.Remove.
4.What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A.SoaPen has become popular worldwide.
B.The inventors think Soapen has a bright future.
C.SoaPen has been applied in Mumbai schools.
D.Kids' health should be paid more attention to.

The Best Ways to Lose Weight with Walking
Walking regularly is the easiest and least expensive form of exercise. Except for a good pair of walking shoes, no special equipment is needed. It is not necessary to join a gym. 1.You can walk every day with no “rest days” in between. There is nothing to learn; people already know how to walk. There are, however, a few important things to keep in mind when walking to lose weight.
● Ways to lose weight by walking
The first way to begin to lose weight by walking is to start walking. The initial goal should be 10,000 steps per day. Using a simple pedometer(计步器) attached to the waistband or on a belt will help you to count your daily steps. Consistency—even 10 minutes 3 times a day at first will produce the immediate results.2.
●3.
It is very important to check with your medical professional before beginning any exercise program; especially if you are over age 65, have been required sitting or little activity for more than a year,or have been diagnosed with heart disease, pregnancy, high blood pressure,or any other medical conditions.
● How to walk to lose weight
A good walking technique will help you achieve the physical or mental energy you need to walk consistently for the amount of time you have set for your goal. Making sure that you are using your large muscles correctly will also help to build your muscles.4.
Walking regularly can aid in muscle growth and increase the amount of calories you burn throughout the day. Eating a healthy low-fat diet will raise your metabolism(新陈代谢).5.If paired the calorie burn with the correct diet, it can lead to a better form of weight loss.
A. Limit your "bad" fat intake.
B. Begin a walking program with suitable physical qualities.
C. For example, take the stairs rather than taking the elevator.
D. It can be done anywhere and anytime, alone or with friends.
E. These two methods will help lead to a safe 1 to 2 pound weight loss per week.
F. Strong muscles burn more calories throughout the day, even when you are not walking.
G. But slowly increasing the time and the distance will encourage your weight-loss efforts.

When you see someone you know, the easiest way to recognize them is by their face—but not everyone can do this. Many people have prosopagnosia, or face blindness, which is a neurological(神经病学的)condition where the part o the brain that recognizes faces fails to develop. It can stop people recognizing partners, family members, friends or even their own reflection. It was once though to be caused by brain injury (acquired prosopagnosia) but now a genetic link has been proved (development prosopagnosia).
Acquired prosopagnosia is a very rare but as many as one in 50 people may have developmental prosopagnosia. There’s no specific treatment, but training programmes are being developed to help improve facial recognition.
For many, the situation can be dangerous. I’ve heard stories of people being robbed by strangers claiming to be family members, or of children wandering off strange men.
It was only is this century that researchers began to realize exactly how many people in this world were quietly living with the condition.
Like a blind person who can recognize family members by their footsteps, prosopagnosics are forced to develop unusual ways of discovering who it is they’re meeting or talking to. From the obvious markers like hair and voice, to the way one sits, stands or walks, they rely on dozens of means to get through ordinary life.
Faces are an important part of identity. Not to be recognized feels terrible—it’s as if you’ve been overlooked, like someone’s saying you don’t matter. But it’s nothing to the pain of knowing that you’re hurting people’s feelings constantly, and yet being completely unaware that you’re doing it in the moment. To be alienated(隔离的)from the world of faces is a strange position to be in, but I’m comforted by the thought that articles like this will do a little to help people forgive me and others like me.
1.Why do some people have developmental prosopagnosia?
A. Mainly due to brain injury.
B. Mainly due to their life styles.
C. Mainly for biological reasons.
D. Mainly for psychological reasons.
2.What can we learn about prosopagnosia?
A. We can do nothing to deal with it.
B. One fifth of people suffer from it.
C. It can be cured by training programmes.
D. Developmental prosopagnosia is more common.
3.Like a blind person, people with prosopagnosia ________.
A. depend on their families for a normal life.
B. are embarrassed about their condition.
C. are usually laughed at by other people.
D. have special ways to recognize people
4.What can we infer about people with prosopagnosia from the last paragraph?
A. They are unfriendly to others.
B. They feel hurting others doesn’t matter.
C. They often make others feel ignored.
D. They avoid communicating with others.

We all know what it is like to be unable to turn your head because of a cold in the muscles of your neck, or because an unexpected twist has made your neck ache and stiff. Your whole body feels tight. The slightest move makes you jump with pain. Nothing could be worse than a pain in the neck. That is why we use phrase to describe some people who give you the same feeling. We have all met such people.
One is the man who always seems to be clapping his hands—often at the wrong time—during a performance in the theater. He keeps you from hearing the actors.
Even worse are those who can never arrive before the curtain goes up and play begins. They come hurrying down to your row of seats. You are comfortably settled down, with your hat and heavy coat in your lap. You must stand up to let them pass. You are proud of your self-control after they have settled into their seats…Well, what now…Good God, one of them is up again. He forgot to go to the men’s room, and once more you have to stand up, hanging on to your hat and coat to let him pass. Now, that is “a pain in the neck.”
Another, well-known to us all, is the person sitting behind you in the movies. His mouth is full of popcorn; he is chewing loudly, or talking between bites to friends next to him. None of them remain still. Up and down, back and forth, they go for another bag of popcorn, or something to drink.
Then, there is the main sitting next to you at a lunch counter smoking a smelly cigar. He wants you to enjoy it too, and blows smoke across your food into your mouth.
We must not forget the man who comes into a bus or subway car and sits down next to you, just as close as you will let him. You are reading the newspaper and he leans over and stretches his neck so that he can read the paper with you. He may even turn the paper to the next page before you are ready for it.
We also call such a person a “rubberneck”, always putting out his neck to where it does not belong, like neighbors who watch all your visitors. They enjoy invading your privacy. People have a strong dislike for rubbernecks. They hate being spied upon.

Four simple ways to stay positive
Trying to stay positive, both in good times and bad, is a great way to improve your quality of life. Try these four methods on a daily basis.
1. Don’t think a lot about negativity.
Of course, staying positive 24 hours a day, seven days a week is a bit difficult. Letting things get to you is normal, and it’s actually healthy to cry or express frustrations once in a while.
It’s when those negative moments control your life that your emotional balance is at risk. 1. However, don’t give that sadness another second in your day.
2. 2.
What you put into your body directly affects how you feel on the outside. Fill yourself with good, healthy foods like fruits and vegetables and limit snacking. Exercise is equally of great importance. Take a few days out of your week for at least half an hour of activity, and try to stick to a routine. 3.
3. Be kind to others.
4. Making someone’s day a bit brighter not only puts a smile on his or her face, but also yours as well. Remember to smile and treat each person with pity and respect. Good deeds are contagious (传染的) , and your positive attitude may spread among others.
4. Take it one day at a time.
Being positive isn’t an instant thing. It’s a steady effort that we follow every hour of every day. 5. Instead, focus on living in the moment and doing what you can to make each moment better.
A.Eat healthily and stay fit.
B.Take your lunch breaks outside.
C.Don’t worry about what the future may bring.
D.Gratitude helps you appreciate life in bad times.
E.Take a few minutes to feel sad and accept what happened.
F.Good feelings come from acts of kindness and selflessness.
G.Even going outside for a walk and enjoying the sunshine improves your mood.
