The South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona will be open with limited services. Here’s how it will work, according to a statement from the park:

The south entrance (near Tusayan) will be open from 4 to 10 a.m. Visitors who are inside the park by 10 a.m. can remain until sunset.

Admission fees can be paid by way of machine at the gate (the entrance booths will not be staffed) or by purchasing a pass in advance at third-party sellers such as the Valle Travel Stop at State Route 64 and U.S. 180 or in Tusayan at the Grand Canyon Chamber & Visitors Bureau, Grand Canyon IMAX Theater, Grand Canyon Plaza Hotel or Red Feather Lodge.

Limited food and beverage service at Market Plaza, Bright Angel Bicycles, EI Tovar patio and nearby hotels. Bring you own water and snacks just in case.

Bicycle and wheelchair rentals at Bright Angel Bicycles.

The Rim Trail and Greenway Trail system outside of the residential arca.

Desert View Drive is open as far east as Navajo Point, where vehicles will have to turn around.

Camping

When you think of a national park, you generally picture fresh air and wild animals, right? Well, now you’re going to have to add tea shops and something called "the Tube" to your definition, because London, England has signed up to be the first "National Park City. "

London was established by the Romans around 2,000 years ago and has been continually inhabited(居住于)since then. London will have a much easier job achieving this type of green transformation than more densely- urbanized cities like Paris and New York, which have 10% and 27% green space, respectively. But that doesn’t mean it’s not possible--the National Park City Foundation hopes to employ 25 more cities in addition to London by the year 2025. Glasgow, Scotland and Newcastle upon Tyne in northeast England are both currently considering becoming National Park Cities.

The National Park Service in the United States will mark its one hundredth anniversary in 2016. As it nears its second century, the Park Service plans to increase its educational programs for students and teachers.

The plans include transportation support for one hundred thousand students each year to visit national parks to learn about nature and history. Yellowstone is believed to have been the world’s first national park when it was established in 1872. Other students will get a chance to see parks in faraway places through Skype and other online programs.

The National Park Service also works with partners to provide education. The organization works with students from kindergarten through twelfth grade and uses national parks as its classrooms. Now, NatureBridge is launching an East Coast center with a four­million­dollar grant from Google. The program will begin in April at the Prince William Forest Park in Virginia. Students stay for three to five days in NatureBridge programs. The activities are aimed at developing their science skills.　 For example, they learn about different soils and study water quality under a microscope.

Jason Morris is executive vice president of NatureBridge.　 He says when they are not sleeping, eating or in a laboratory, the students spend their　 time outdoors. Julia Washburn is associate director of education and interpretation for the National Park Service. She says in a time of budget cuts, the agency has to find ways to still meet its goals. The park is located in the western state of Washington and it covers more than 400,000 hectares. Each area of the park offers visitors something special. Here are some places to go.

Elwha Valley

The Elwha Valley is in the central part of the park. It is the Olympic Peninsula’s largest watershed (分水岭). Long ago, the rivers in this area held the most salmon (鲑鱼) outside of Alaska. My wife was not encouraging me. She said, “Are you crazy? You'll never find it! The Grand Canyon is the biggest hole on Earth!” I didn't answer and walked steadily forward until her laughter died away.

I struggled to keep hope as I searched dozens of trees and tracked every singing bird. It was like searching a needle in the sea. But, oh, how great my victory would be when I held the missing key from the bird's nest.
