China has entered the cinematic space race. The Wandering Earth, the country’s first blockbuster sci-fi, is on track to be one of the most successful films in China’s history.
Set in the distant future, the governments of the Earth, faced with destruction from an unstable sun, have strapped thrusters (助推器) onto the planet, carrying it out into the universe in search of a new home. But as the Earth approaches the Jupiter, something goes wrong in the system puts it on course to crash into the planet. Therefore, countless people have come forward to face the challenge and save the Earth.
The film is seen by some as the dawn of Chinese sci-fi—a field that has long been dominated by Hollywood.
China is already home to a thriving science and speculative fiction literary scene. The Wandering earth is based on the work of Liu Cixin, the author of the Three-Body Problem series and the first Chinese author to win a Hugo Award, “The Wandering earth fills the gap in Chinese sci-fi movies. It means that China’s sci-fi movies have officially set sail,” one fan of the film wrote on Douban.
China’s film market is expected to overtake the US as the world’s largest by 2022, but there is still a long way to go. The main difference between Chinese and US audience is trust. “Building trust between producers investors and the audience is the biggest challenge here. Not so many people have faith in a Chinese sci-fi movie.” said Liu. the author of the novel.
Some noted that unlike many Chinese blockbusters, The Wandering earth dials back on the patriotism. Rescue teams from around the world scramble to get the thrusters back up and running. A Russian soldier sacrifices his life to help a Chinese colleague.
“This is not a patriotic film but a film about humans saving themselves,” one reviewer said.
1.What does the second paragraph mainly talk about?
A.The plot of the film. B.The influence of the film.
C.The peak of the film. D.The background of the film.
2.Which is the closest in meaning to the word dominated in Paragraph 3?
A.controlled B.challenged
C.abandoned D.affected
3.What is the biggest challenge for Chinese sci-fi films right now?
A.Chinese sci-fi films are poorly produced.
B.There is not enough money to put into sci-fi films.
C.Chinese movie-goers lack faith in home-made sci-fi films.
D.Chinese sci-fi films don’t have a good atmosphere for creation.
4.Why does the author mention a Russian soldier’s sacrifice in the film?
A.To add more vivid and moving details to the film.
B.To compare the film with Chinese traditional films.
C.To arouse the readers’ interest in watching the film.
D.To prove the film’s theme is far beyond patriotism.
5.Which can be the most suitable title for the text?
A.The Wandering Earth helps Liu Cixin win a Hugo Award
B.The Wandering Earth challenges Hollywood in sci-fi
C.The Wandering earth calls for sacrifice to save the earth

高二英语完形填空困难题查看答案及解析
They say that picture is worth a thousand words, but the briefest look at books and the movies based on them would have anyone questioning this common saying. All too often, great words end up being turned into cinematic “turkeys”.
Good movies need good stories. If so, why has one of the earliest and greatest works in Western storytelling, Homer’s The Odyssey, never had an equally great movie based on it? Movies need strong characters. So why have the movies based on The Great Gatsby never been praised as “great”? Movies of course need impressive images, so why has Alice in Wonderland only resulted in movies best described as “interesting”?
One of the key reasons behind this is that while a book usually takes a few days to read, a movie typically lasts under two hours. This means that great books can lose plot details and characters when they move to the big screen. This is something that even the highly successful Harry Potter movies can’t escape from, with fans of the books disappointed not to see some of their favorite characters in the movie versions.
Movies also disappoint us when things don’t look the way we imagined them in the books. Take, for example, the epic movie Troy, which is in part based on Homer’s The Iliad and was met with mixed reviews from the audience. The most questionable issue was the actress chosen to play the part of Helen. Many people thought she didn’t live up to Helen's title of “the most beautiful woman in the world”, influencing opinions of the movie to some extent.
There are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people’s eyes. Furthermore, books and movies are two different forms of media and therefore have different rules. With this in mind, perhaps we should judge a movie in its own right, and not against its original source. Interestingly, audiences have in recent years turned to television series such as Sherlock or Mad Men, which can have many characters and gradual plot development. Perhaps, one day, readers of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s most admired work will find themselves glued to their screens by episodes of The Great Gatsby.
1.Which of the following statements about the movie adaptation is true?
A.The characters in The Odyssey do not stand out.
B.The movie Troy doesn't look the way we visualized while reading the book.
C.The visual images are not as striking as the descriptions in the book The Great Gatsby.
D.Some parts of the story and characters are missing in the movie Alice in Wonderland.
2.One of the reasons why adaptations disappoint the audience is that ________.
A.they lack good storytelling
B.the images are not impressive enough
C.the characters in the movies are not strong and interesting
D.there is not enough time for movies to fully present the whole story
3.The underlined “ original source” in the last paragraph probably refers to _________.
A.audience B.book
C.characters. D.images
4.What does the text mainly talk about?
A.Good books may not be adapted for great movies.
B.Reading books is better than watching movies.
C.People are dissatisfied with the current movies.
D.People are expressing their preference to reading books.

高二英语阅读选择中等难度题查看答案及解析
Have you ever wished you could see in the dark as well as an animal? In action movies, we often see characters wearing special glasses that reveal(显示)things that can't be seen in darkness. Everything looks green, but we can see the shapes and outlines clearly. As a matter of fact, this is somewhat similar to the way animals' night vision (视力) works.
You may have noticed eyeshine in pictures of animals, or seen it for yourself when light hits an animal's eyes. Dogs, cats, and many other animals have tissue (组织) called the tapetum lucidum(光神经纤维层) in each eye. The purpose of this tissue is reflect (反射) light deeper into the eye. For many animals, it leads to their excellent night vision, and it helps them hunt.
Different types of animals have different colors of eyeshine. The light reflecting back from the eyes of dogs and cat is likely to be yellow. Rats and birds usually have eyes that shine red. Other animals’ eyes may reflect white, yellow, green, or pink light. In each case, the color is related to the type of cells that make up the tapetum lucidum, as well as the chemicals inside the cells.
Eyeshine has the function of improving animals' night vision, but humans have found other uses for it. For example, when people are searching for certain types of animals, their eyeshine may be helpful in recognizing or discovering them. Also, eyeshine has inspired humans to invent substance (物质) that reflect light at night. Strips containing this substance are used to warn us of safety risks such as raised parts of roads. Even though humans cannot see so well at night, we have still found ways to benefit from this amazing animal feature.
1.How does the tapetum lucidum help animals' night vision?
A. It sends out light in the dark. B. It makes everything appear green.
C. It reflects light back into the eyes. D. It enables them to see colors at night.
2.How does the author mainly develop Paragraph 3?
A. By providing reasons. B. By giving examples.
C. By following space order. D. By doing experiments.
3.What can we learn about scientists' research on eyeshine?
A. They've put it to practical uses.
B. They're using it to protect some animals.
C. They're trying to include more animal types.
D. They've invented special glasses based on it.
4.What is the text mainly about?
A. How humans' night vision works. B. Different colors of animals' eyes.
C. How animals see in the dark. D. Eyeshine and its benefits.

China was a latecomer to space exploration, and in the movies, it has been a latecomer to science fiction, too. That is about to change. The country's first blockbuster (大片)set in space, The Wandering Earth, opens Tuesday with great expectations that it will represent the dawning of a new age in Chinese filmmaking. The film also opens with the Lunar New Year, the beginning of an official, weeklong holiday that is traditionally a peak box-office period in China. It has a limited show in the United States, Canada,Australia and New Zealand.
The Wandering Earth, shown in 3-D, takes place in a distant future in which the sun is about to expand into a red giant and destroy the Earth. The film comes as China reached a milestone(里程碑)in space : the landing of a probe (探测器)on the far side of the moon in January. Although decades behind Russia and the United States, China has now put astronauts in orbit and has ambitious plans to join or even lead a new age of space exploration.
''I think there is a very close connection between Chinese cinema and the nation's fortunes,'' said Sha Dan, a leader at the China Film Archive, ''When we have the ability to rescue our people abroad, we can make movies like Operation Red Sea. Only when China can enter the space age can we make works like The Wandering Earth. ''

1.What does the author think of The Wandering Earth?
A.It is a success in science-fiction films.
B.It is a hit in the oversea film markets.
